The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University was founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school. The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia houses several key research resources, including the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, the Viral Vector Core, and a state-of-the-art microscopy facility. Job Summary
A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures, maintain lab equipment, and supervise and coordinate lab personnel and activities. Perform a variety of complex experiments and execute lab management duties. Maintains mouse colonies and inventories. Coordinates with all members of the lab and the PI to keep track of which mouse strains are currently in use or will be required for research projects. Coordinate and perform treatment and testing of mice.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Perform a variety of experimental studies including cell biology, molecular biology, pathology, pharmacology and behavioral experiments under guidance. Experiments may include but not be limited to animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, and collection of tissues. Taking images using various microscopes and imaging scanners. Maintain and update spreadsheets, documenting results.
Maintains mouse colonies and inventories. Coordinates with all members of the lab and the PI to keep track of which mouse strains are currently in use or will be required for research projects. Coordinate and perform treatment and testing of mice.
Manages continuous operation of the research laboratory, orders supplies and animals as necessary, keeps track of costs, expenses, and delivered goods/supplies, updates spreadsheets documenting lab supply and chemical inventories.
Coordinate activities of students, graduateassistants, and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Assist postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures and other technological aspects of research activities.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.

#: 40028733 The Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure track position to join the faculty within the new Transdisciplinary Research Initiative in Inflammaging and Brain Aging (TRIBA). The research expertise of qualified applicants should be within or complementary to the existing research expertise in the various disciplines related to aging. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and develop an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding from government agencies (e.g. the National Institute of Health), private foundations, and industry.
Responsibilities
* Develop a successful research program, with the expectation of obtaining one NIH R01 or RF1 grant, or one other major grant as Principal Investigator, with direct cost revenues of $200,000 - $300,000 per year up to 4-5 years; from Year 4 and forward, the expectation is to be PI or MPI on at least one RO1 or equivalent and have laboratory grants exceed $400K/year in direct costs.
* Participate in teaching at the Medical College of Georgia and/or the Graduate School.
* Mentor graduate students.
Required Qualifications
All Medical College of Georgia faculty should be Board Eligible - Board Certified and have a MD, PhD, or equivalent appropriate degree commensurate with role.

Pharmacology and Toxicology was established as a department at the Medical College of Georgia in 1943. Originally developed to discover how remedies and poisons effected man, modern pharmacology lays the groundwork to discover and develop future generations of therapeutics. Pharmacology's scope has broadened to include computer-assisted drug design; genetic screens; protein engineering; and new drug-delivery vehicles like viruses and artificial cells. The department's history of accomplishments includes the discovery of the adrenergic receptor subtypes-alpha and beta which led to developing several drugs used to treat cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular and neuroscience studies are the focuses of the department's research programs. Raymond P. Ahlquist, working in this Department, first defined and ß adrenergic receptors in 1948. This discovery eventually led to the development of ß blocker drugs for hypertension and heart disease.
Job Summary
Position responsibilities include the daily performance of complex chemical, biological, and animal/tissue preparation and testing in the research laboratory. The position will assist PI, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows with procedures and data collection of research as well as general maintenance of laboratory resources and equipment.

Perform research experiments in a laboratory setting conducting preclinical in vitro cell culture studies. Perform animal handling, dosing, biochemical, molecular, and microscopic imaging experimental techniques in support of current projects.

Perform animal breeding, maintenance, and genotyping.

Established in 1829, the Medical College of Georgia Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or BMB, is an academic home to interdisciplinary translational research for disease detection, prevention, and treatment. Our mission also includes the education and mentoring of future researchers, physicians and physician-scientists and service to the AU and greater scientific community. The research mission is focused on inventing better diagnostics and newer targeted therapies for the benign and malignant diseases of the bladder, brain, breast, eye, gastrointestinal tract, kidney, liver, and prostate. The research areas encompass biomarkers, chemoprevention, DNA damage and repair, drug resistance, the epigenome, immunotherapy, the microbiome, molecular signaling, natural products, protein modifications and targeted therapy. Our faculties are supported by major funding agencies, and the insight gained by their work has been published in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Home to the Biochemistry and Cancer Biology Graduate Program, the BMB Department offers PhD degrees, along with a combined MD-PhD program available to medical students. Job Summary
The ResearchAssistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide laboratory assistance directly to the Principal Investigator and the laboratory team, with some ability to work independently in carrying out multiple techniques, including -but not limited to- culture of established cancer and normal cell lines, primary tissue cultures, proteomics (western-blot, ELISA), DNA-RNA isolation/purification, PCR/RT-PCR, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry for immune cells, cancer cells, cloning, working with biological specimens, providing assistance in mouse models.

The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University was founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school. The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia houses several key research resources, including the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, the Viral Vector Core, and a state-of-the-art microscopy facility. Job Summary
A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in the Wang laboratory. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures, maintain lab equipment, and supervise and coordinate lab personnel and activities. Perform a variety of complex experiments and execute lab management duties.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform a variety of experimental studies, including cell biology and molecular biology experiments. Experiments may include, but not be limited to, animal behavioral testing, genotyping, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, and collection of tissues. Analyze results of experiments and procedures using confocal and brightfield image analyses and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results.
Maintains mouse colonies and inventories. Coordinates with all members of the lab and the PI to keep track of which mouse strains are currently in use or will be required for research projects. Coordinate and perform treatment and testing of mice.
Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduateassistants, and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise the PI, postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.
Manages continuous operation of the research laboratory, orders supplies and animals as necessary, keeps track of costs, expenses, and delivered goods/supplies, updates spreadsheets documenting lab supply and chemical inventories

Job Summary
This position provides administrative and technical oversight in a cardiorenal research laboratory in the Department of Physiology. Responsibilities include the following: Ensure research protocols are followed and met; safety guidelines are followed in accordance with institution and government regulations; management of laboratory resources; provide teaching and technical oversight to trainees and research staff; process data, present findings and assist Principle Investigator (PI: Dr. Alison Kriegel) with current and future research applications and programs of study; and coordinate administrative and technical arrangements of animal models and maintain records related to use.
Research in the Kriegel laboratory is focused on 1) understanding molecular changes associated with hypertension and/or acute/chronic kidney pathology, and 2) understanding how chronic kidney disease leads to cardiovascular disease and dysfunction in adults and children. The laboratory applies cutting edge molecular technologies to understand complex patho/physiological processes. Projects include work in cell and animal models, as well as translational studies involving human subjects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Lab Management
Coordinate research activities in the lab and instruct research staff and students and advise regarding research techniques.
Animal Management
Coordinate administrative and technical arrangements of animal models and maintain records related to use. Perform animal colony maintenance and surgical procedures such as injections, gavage and euthanasia. Assist PI with animal protocols preparation and submission.
Experiments
Perform complex data analysis related to producing research results and preparing findings for future development and develop new studies in coordination with the PI. Plan research protocols and control the proper execution of the research plans by other laboratory staff. Analyze data and prepare publication-ready figures.
Fiscal Management
Participate in the tracking and monitoring of budgetary resources to ensure effective lab operations. Interface with vendors and administration regarding order tracking and invoices/payments.
Safety and Compliance
Use independent judgement in the daily operation of the lab to ensure safe and efficient use of resources. Monitor use of resources to ensure compliance with federal guidelines and institutional protocols.
Grant Development
Assist PI with data preparation for grant applications and renewals. Participate actively in the composition, editing and publication of research findings.

The successful candidate will join a NIH-funded project (PI, Dr. Fan Fan) and investigate how genetic-based microvascular dysfunction in aging, hypertension, diabetes, and obesity contributes to end-organ damage, including vascular cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD), and renal disease. The lab also focuses on studying the contribution of changes in the actin cytoskeleton in vascular cells to the hemodynamics in cerebral and renal circulation, as well as changes in the actin cytoskeleton in podocytes in glomerular function.

The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will accomplish this by assembling teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development. The IMMCG will be co-directed by world-class immunologists Drs. Catherine, Lynn, Hedrick and Klaus Ley, both of whom have made major discoveries linking immune cells to specific mechanisms of disease. The goal of the IMMCG is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States. The new center is aggressively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.
Job Summary
Performs laboratory work related to studies in cancer and heart disease. Maintains research database, communicates well with other laboratory members, and works well as part of a team. Assists with ordering supplies and maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Design and perform a variety of examinations of specimens for the presence of diseases and pathological conditions; prepare culture media, incubate and culture bacteria, stain slides, perform molecular biology techniques, electrophoresis, and work with experimental animals.
Supervise junior members in the lab.
Assist PI for writing publications and grant applications.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by P.I.

Job Summary
Performs advanced administrative and technical work in support of research initiatives in an assigned laboratory or clinical research unit. Participates in research data collection and documentation within FDA guidelines and research institute protocols; develops and evaluates new research techniques and procedures. Performs a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytological, microscopic, histological, surgical, clinical and/or dissection procedures.

Job Summary
This position will assist in phenotypic analyses of the mouse mutants, mouse surgery, and isolation of endothelial and vascular cells from mice. This position will also work with members of a team of scientists, each of whom carries out a series of mouse experiments of human relevance. In addition, this position will perform plasmid and adenovirus amplification, western blotting, qPCR, tissue cutting and histological and immunofluorescence staining to assist lab member's work. A database, already in place, will need daily updating.
Candidate must be able to handle and work with mice including maintaining mouse colony with genotyping and have organizational skills with ability to multitask.
Responsibilities

MAINTAINING MICE: Maintaining mouse colony through selective breeding and culling.
MOUSE SURGERY: Mouse surgery related to cardiovascular diseases.
AMPLIFICATION: Plasmid and adenovirus amplification.

Job Summary
This position provides administrative and technical oversight for a research laboratory in the Department of Physiology. Responsibilities include ensuring research protocols are followed and met; safety guidelines are followed in accordance with institution and government regulations; management of laboratory resources; providing teaching and technical oversight to students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians; processing of data, present findings and assist Principal Investigator (PI) with current and future research applications and programs of study. Performs blood sampling; blood pressure studies; and data acquisition, analyses and tabulation.

LAB MANAGEMENT: Coordinates research activities in the lab, instructs research staff and students, and advises regarding research techniques. Coordinates telemetry studies for other faculty and labs.

Established in 1829, the Medical College of Georgia Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, or BMB, is an academic home to interdisciplinary translational research for disease detection, prevention, and treatment. We are delighted that you have decided to visit our department's website. Our mission also includes the education and mentoring of future researchers, physicians and physician-scientists and service to the AU and greater scientific community. The research mission is focused on inventing better diagnostics and newer targeted therapies for the benign and malignant diseases of the bladder, brain, breast, eye, gastrointestinal tract, kidney, liver, and prostate. The research areas encompass biomarkers, chemoprevention, DNA damage and repair, drug resistance, the epigenome, immunotherapy, the microbiome, molecular signaling, natural products, protein modifications and targeted therapy. Our faculties are supported by major funding agencies, and the insight gained by their work has been published in reputable peer-reviewed journals. Home to the Biochemistry and Cancer Biology Graduate Program, the BMB Department offers PhD degrees, along with a combined MD-PhD program available to medical students. The students move on to competitive careers in academia, industry, and governmental agencies. Job Summary
The incumbent will conduct basic bench research related to: (i) defining mechanistic determinants of neuroendocrine differentiation in advanced prostate cancer. (ii) Designing novel exosome-based therapeutics for advanced prostate cancer. Specifically, the incumbent will focus on (1) performing in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies using prostate cancer cell lines and prostate cancer animal models, (2) laser capture microdissection of prostate tissue samples, mRNA extractions from tissues and mRNA analyses (3) analysis of micro RNA/gene expression in prostate cancer clinical tissues, cell lines and serum samples. (4) developing engineered/designer exosomes from cell lines. (5) exosome isolation and characterization. (6) In addition, the project involves working knowledge of prostate cancer mouse models including transgenic mice.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Perform technical work in support of ongoing research projects, participate in data collection and documentation, as well as development of new research techniques and procedures.
Managing day to day laboratory activities including ordering, updating inventories, preparing appropriate reagents and maintain laboratory equipment.
Analyze and present data verbally and/or in writing. Work with guidelines and protocols of research projects.
Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.
OR
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science with emphasis in biochemistry, chemistry, genetics or molecular biology and/or previous experience in a research laboratory is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases, emphasis on statistical analyses tools is desirable.
Knowledge/experience in Cancer Biology and/or related field.
