The Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute of the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL is building the Carle Clinical Imaging Research Program (CCIRP) with a position to be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Carle Foundation is a vertically integrated healthcare system with almost 17,000 employees, a multi-specialty physician group, eight hospitals, and health plans. Carle also collaborates extensively with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) in a number of initiatives. These include the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the world's first engineering-based medical school, and the Carle Illinois Advanced Imaging Center (CIAIC).
In addition to the primary appointment at Carle, additional academic appointments are possible in the relevant Illinois departments and at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Carle is making a multi-million dollar investment in its research infrastructure, including CCIRP, CIAIC, clinical trials management, investigator-initiated support services, and other initiatives.
The CIAIC's principal focus is a 7T Siemens TERRA whole-body MRI scanner, an FDA-approved system that is used for both research and clinical purposes and that is the only such system in the State of Illinois. Carle also has a Siemens 3T Prisma system, a 3T Vida system and two Siemens 1.5T Sola systems that are available for research. CCIRP has existing research programs in MRI physics, translational and clinical neuroimaging at 7T, and musculoskeletal MRI at 3T and 7T.
Applicants are sought who will diversity this portfolio in areas such as pharmacologic MRI, movement disorders, cancer imaging, psychiatry, or other clinical neuroimaging research applications. The successful applicant will be expected to conceptualize, develop, and lead translational and clinical research projects involving 7T MRI; establish and lead a research group; and establish and sustain an independent externally-funded research program. In addition, the successful applicant will provide leadership and key technical expertise in collaborative imaging research projects among Carle basic science and clinical researchers and with investigators and students at Illinois.

The Department of Health and Kinesiology (HK, ************************** The mission of the Department is to advance and disseminate knowledge related to health, rehabilitation, and human movement using an interdisciplinary approach. Through the integration of high-quality research, instruction, and outreach programs, faculty scholars within HK are leading initiatives that address pressing concerns of our diverse society such as prevention and management of chronic disease as well as maintenance of health and well-being across the lifespan. Important Information for Applicants
This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable, an employment history review, based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
In addition, all appointments are contingent upon proof of eligibility for employment at Illinois State University to perform the required duties described above on your scheduled start date. The Immigration and Control Act of 1986, Public Law 99-603, requires all new employees to file an I-9 in person and no later than three days from the beginning of employment. This may be accomplished within the department or through Human Resources. A list of the types of documentation you will be expected to provide is available at **************************************************************** Failure to comply with this law will result in cancellation of your appointment.
Illinois State University, as your employer, is required by federal law to ensure proper tax withholding from wages and to ensure that the required reporting of employee wages, withholding, and employment taxes is accurate. For this reason, every employee must have a valid Social Security Number registered with the University at the time of employment and/or as soon after as possible, but no later than 45 days from the start date. Failure to comply with this law may result in cancellation of your appointment.
Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held.
International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work more when the university is not in session. International students should contact the Office of International Studies and Programs for guidance if they have questions concerning employment restrictions.
