TWO AssistantResearch Scientist POSITIONS AVAILABLE TO DISCOVER AND CHARACTERIZE A NEW CLASS OF PHOTORECEPTORS IN MARINE CYANOBACTERIA
Two positions are available for AssistantResearch Scientists in the laboratory of Dr. David Kehoe in the Department of Biology at Indiana University Bloomington to identify and characterize novel photoreceptors in marine Synechococcus using CRISPR and protein biochemistry approaches. This project is funded by the NSF Systems and Synthetic Biology Program and builds on our successful initial studies of Type 4 Chromatic Acclimation (CA4) as described in publications in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA and Annual Review of Microbiology. Briefly, this project will focus on determining the photoreceptor properties of two unique proteins identified as master regulators of CA4., including the chromophores involved and these proteins' DNA binding characteristics.
Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D. in molecular biology/genetics is required, preferably with experience in plant or cyanobacterial molecular biology and photobiology or signal transduction research. The Lilly API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) Dry Product Network is rapidly expanding to meet the demand for new products, and several new greenfield sites are under construction and will be starting up in the coming years. Herron Classical Schools is hiring Guest Teachers. Guest Teachers are key to our schools' smooth operation when teachers are absent. They are instrumental in fostering high-quality education in a community of mutual respect and trust.
Guest Teachers support the learning process by:
Maintaining a safe and mutually respectful classroom
Following teachers' prepared lesson plans
Holding scholars accountable to teacher expectations
Communicating detailed daily feedback to teachers
Guest Teachers at Herron Classical Schools will:
Be part of a talented, close-knit community
Direct their work schedule, working as many as 5 days per week
Enjoy opportunities for long-term and/or full-time placements
Requirements
Ideal candidates:
Holding a post-secondary degree, having some post-secondary credits or actively pursuing higher education is preferred but not required.
Sharing a love of learning with scholars
Maintaining professionalism with scholars and peers
Being competent in basic computer use
Salary Description $110/full day
