Job Details:The School of Medicine on the Columbus, Georgia campus is searching for a ResearchAssistant I.
Responsibilities:
The ResearchAssistant will work with the Principle Investigator in a very collaborative and team-based atmosphere. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and show evidence of keen interest in biomedical research. They will have the aptitude and aspiration to learn new skills and work well with others. The ResearchAssistant, under the direct supervision of the PI, will be responsible for rodent surgery, running animals for studies, helping with breeding colony and wet lab related activities such as immunofluorescence and microscopy.
Other duties include:
Assisting the PI in all aspects related research projects, including (but not limited to) maintaining a rodent colony and assisting with data collection.
Assist the PI in performing data analysis and preparation of figures for manuscripts.
Place purchase order for lab supplies and animals, and maintain laboratories in a good order.
Qualifications:
The ResearchAssistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to learn and perform immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, cryosectioning, and tissue preparation.
Ability to learn and perform animal experiments including injections, terminal surgery, survival surgery and organ processing etc.
Ability to analyze experimental data and formulate initial conclusions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
Obtain a detailed patient history and record appropriate findings in the patient records.
Complete a systematic and thorough physical examination. Make diagnoses concerning a patient s injury or illness. Give treatment such as setting broken bones.
Prescribe medicine when needed. Performs salutary procedures by administering injections and managing wounds and infections.
Order, perform, interpret and schedule, when appropriate, diagnostic studies.
Provide counseling on health habits, exercise, tobacco, and alcohol.
Provide instruction on supervising physician s orders: (a) diet, (b) physical therapy (i.e. lumbar flexion exercises, range of motion, home arthritis therapy, activities of daily living, use of crutches or walker) and (c) use of physical adjuncts to therapy (i.e. nebulizer, vaporizer, etc.)
Assist supervising physician in management of hospitalized patients (with concurrent hospital approval for such a role) plus: check on clinical status of patient, explain tests or therapy, report on progress to physician, check on report of studies, assist in documentation of care, within limits of hospital regulations, transfer copies of hospital data to office records when appropriate, arrange for post hospitalization follow-up care, assist in surgery, and make rounds when appropriate.

Work as a member of a team to collect data on stream conditions in the Bull Creek watershed of Columbus, GA. Work will be conducted outside in local streams that must be accessed by traversing steep embankments. **Job Summary**
**This position is located in Mobile, Alabama at the Auburn University Marine Extension and Research Center (AUMERC ) with work being done in Mobile Bay, the Mississippi Sound (AL and MS), Little Lagoon, and surrounding watersheds.**
The ResearchAssistant will be responsible for assisting the Pls of AUMERC in ongoing grant-funded extension and research projects including but not limited to an investigation of estuarine and nearshore microbial/physicochemical water quality conditions, evaluation of oyster restoration locations and approaches, Oyster Gardening programs located in both Mississippi and Alabama, as well as additional projects related to the study of water and habitat quality within the greater Mobile Bay area. This position will require significant time spent in the field where working conditions can be wet, muddy, hot, and sunny. There will also be regular lab and office work including meetings. The selected candidate should be comfortable in all the above-mentioned settings. Limited overnight travel may be necessary while same-day travel will be routine.
This is a three-year, limited-term appointment funding by extramural sources. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Assist with the extension and research projects listed in the job summary above, with primary responsibility found within nearshore water quality investigations.
+ AssistAUMERC staff with the care, maintenance, and calibration of field and lab equipment.
+ Collection and analysis of field samples (e.g., water, oysters, and algae).
+ Maintain records/databases and files of research.

The College of Liberal Arts, Department of Psychological Sciences, is seeking a ResearchAssistant to join the AUBIE Lab.
Our lab focuses on examining the neuroendocrine, immune, neural network, and genomic vulnerabilities that contribute to the clinical course and development of alcohol use disorders (AUDs). The lab uses techniques such as fMRI, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and hormone and immune assays from blood samples.
The researchassistant will work closely with Dr. Blaine on all aspects of running the research study including planning and managing study protocols and logistics, collecting data, following up with participants, and scheduling participants. Opportunities for mentorship in conference submissions and manuscript writing will be supported.
