About the postdoctoral project:
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers in biomedical informatics and data science to work on projects focused on the development of biomedical blockchain, clinical predictive models, and blockchain-based privacy-preserving learning. The focus will be blockchain technology and machine learning, and candidates with at least one of the backgrounds are welcomed to apply.
Our current project can accelerate the development of methods/technologies to increase willingness of institutions to participate in such a collaboration for improving the effectiveness of healthcare. Our postdocs also have opportunities to connect with other postdocs in our department to build a network of junior researchers.
Candidate requirements:
Candidates must have a PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or an informatics/engineering-related field (e.g., Health Informatics, Clinical Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering). Those in the final stages of their PhD are also eligible to apply. A good understanding of medical data and/or electronic health records is considered an asset. The successful candidate should be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

The Research Assistant II serves as an entry-level or first-working-level technician, who will receive general instructions and independently carry out established methods, but whose work will be periodically checked for accuracy and progress. Center for Genome Innovations Expectations
As a Research Assistant in the CGI, this scientist will be expected to apply background and experience in molecular biology to the application of advanced laboratory techniques including RNA and DNA extraction from various tissue types, NGS library preparation, sample/library QC, and sequencing on multiple platforms for varied experimental questions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of the Research Assistant II/III position is to process both internal and external customer samples for a variety of genomics applications requiring advanced laboratory techniques for both DNA and RNA.
The Research Assistant carries out research protocols as developed by the Scientific Director. The Research Assistant follows procedures exactly as outlined, ensuring the consistency of research practices and, ultimately, helping ensure the consistency and integrity of project outcomes. The Research Assistant communicates progress and promptly alerts the supervisor(s) of any issues that arise. The mission of the CGI is to facilitate genomics research for faculty and students across the University of Connecticut campuses by providing access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and expertise in molecular genome analysis techniques like Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for short and long-read applications, single cell analysis, microfluidics (dd PCR) and bead arrays (Infinium arrays for human samples). In addition to offering a variety of sample extraction, QC, library preparation, and sequencing services for many different applications, the CGI also provides hands-on training, on-site support, and assessment of emerging technologies to add to our portfolio.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of the Research Assistant II/III position is to process both internal and external customer samples for a variety of genomics applications requiring advanced laboratory techniques for both DNA and RNA.
The Research Assistant carries out research protocols as developed by the Scientific Director. The Research Assistant follows procedures exactly as outlined, ensuring the consistency of research practices and, ultimately, helping ensure the consistency and integrity of project outcomes. The Research Assistant communicates progress and promptly alerts the supervisor(s) of any issues that arise.
