Primary Responsibilities * Provide leadership, vision, and budget oversight for the Dr. Patricia Carver Center in alignment with its mission and charge to foster community, belonging, and student success. * Direct the Early Knights early arrival program, supporting historically under-served first-year students through academic preparedness, skill-building, executive functioning, and major and career exploration. * Supervise the Assistant Director, providing leadership and direction to ensure effective program development and student support. * Advise and support identity-based Registered Student Organizations, such as the Black Student Union, BUKnighted (LGBTQ+), HOLA (Hispanic Organization and Latino Alliance), the Muslim Student Association, and other mission-aligned groups by guiding program development, leadership, marketing, and budgeting. * Collaborate with Bridge to BU, a college readiness summer program, to develop co-curricular experiences that enhance student engagement and foster meaningful connections. * Partner with TRIO Student Support Services to support student recruitment and program implementation that promotes student success and retention. * Provide individualized guidance and mentorship to students, promoting academic success, personal growth, engagement, and retention within the campus community. * Assist Student Activities in the support and expansion of Greek Life, serving as a standing member of the Greek Life Taskforce. * Develop and coordinate programs and campus-wide trainings, including BU Dialogues, that promote dialogue, reflection, interpersonal connections, and engaged, respectful citizenship among students, faculty, and staff members. * Serve as a standing member of the President's Advisory Board for Equity and Inclusion, contributing to institutional strategy and equity-focused initiatives. * Build and sustain reciprocal relationships with community partners, in conjunction with Enrollment Management, to create programming that enhances student learning through experiential opportunities and promotes engagement with the broader community. * Oversee communications and outreach, including the Center's website, social media, and digital publications. * Represent the University at recruitment programs that engage prospective students and families, emphasizing the institution's commitment to student success and community engagement. * Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission and impact of the Dr. Patricia Carver Center. Job Description The Graduate Assistant for Rec Programs is responsible for supporting program administration, personnel management, and facility oversight for the Fitness and Sport Programs. This position requires the ability to multi-task while maintaining a strong attention to detail. * Graduate Assistants are expected to be available to work some nights and weekends. * These are 10-month positions beginning in August ending in May, with an option for summer employment. * Graduate Assistant positions are one-year appointments, which are evaluated at the end of the first year to be renewed for subsequent years. (Graduate Assistants are responsible for paying fees each semester and must remain in good academic standing to maintain assistantship). Primary Responsibilities * Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating a Fitness staff of 25+ and a Sport Program staff of 30+. * Serve as Facility Manager of the Campus Recreation Center. * Conduct in-service training for fitness and Sports Program Staff. * Assist in payroll procedures accurately for 55+ student and contract employees, following university and departmental guidelines. * Assist with creating the Intramural Sport and Fitness schedules. * Assist with developing and implementing a marketing plan for Fitness and Sport programs. * Conduct personal training sessions if necessary (if certified) * Assist with regular maintenance, inspection, and upkeep of Fitness and Sports equipment. * Create, update, and enforce policies and procedures related to the Fitness and Sport programs. * Track and record participation numbers for all programs/areas. * Provide onsite supervision for Intramural activities, especially major team sports (Basketball, Flag Football, and Soccer) * Manage IMLeagues web-based scheduling and participant registration program for Intramural Sports programming. * Assist with the creation and implementation of the Sport Club Officer Training program. * Assist with the management of reservations at the Outdoor Field Complex. * Assist with CPR training for all Campus Rec Staff. Graduate Assistants must have completed a Bachelor's degree and been accepted into a graduate program at NKU meeting the minimum qualifications, which vary, depending on the program selected. The successful candidates will be paid $13.25/hr. bi-weekly for up to 25 hours per week with the exception of university holidays and closures (approximately $10,000) with an option for summer employment. In addition to the financial compensation, Graduate Assistants (GAs) receive a tuition scholarship in the amount of no more than nine (9) hours per semester (fall, spring) of graduate in-state tuition. Graduate students who are assessed tuition at any rate other than in-state will be responsible for the difference. GAs must follow all guidelines set forth by the Financial Aid Office.
