DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design of experiments related to creating strains of bacteria that can kill malaria parasites in mosquitoes. This includes designing, building, and testing the genetic constructs that mediate these properties. It also includes genetic manipulations to the bacterial chromosome and testing the resulting strains for efficacy. DNA cloning, genome modifications to bacterial, DNA sequencing, strain assembly, strain fitness measurements, western blotting and ELISA to measure protein secretion.
