Graduate Assistant (2 positions available) Muhlenberg College is seeking two part-time graduate assistants to join its team. The Graduate Assistant serves as a member of a collaborative student affairs team in managing a residential living area and creating healthy living/learning communities among students in 1-2 traditional residence halls. This position will supervise student staff members [Head Resident Advisors and Resident Advisors (RAs)] and contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment within a residential community. Characteristic Responsibilities: Supervision * Directly supervise up to 10-15 Head RAs and RAs. * Plan and facilitate weekly supervision meetings with HRAs, biweekly supervision meetings with RAs, and monthly HD staff meetings. * Provide ongoing feedback for RAs and facilitate the RA evaluation process for the supervision area. * Lead weekly staff meeting for RA staff. Administrative Duties * Hold regularly scheduled office hours (20 hours per week Monday-Friday between 8:30am-5pm), including administrative tasks like email, phone calls, walk in appointments with students. * Participate in weekly supervision meetings with the supervisor. * Participate in weekly HRL staff meetings. * Participate in Division of College Life meetings as requested. * Participate in on-call rotation for residential population with professional staff members. * May perform other duties as assigned. The project integrates Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), large language models (LLMs), and educational data systems and pedagogical approaches from the MathForum and EnCoMPASS. Students will contribute to building systems that generate and evaluate intelligent feedback for students' mathematical problem-solving, in collaboration with partners from the 21st Century Partnership for STEM Education and students and faculty from Drexel University. Responsibilities: The project will focus on developing Python-based software for data analytics and prompting AI systems via relevant APIs. Students will contribute to AI system development by implementing RAG pipelines with tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, HuggingFace embeddings, and Chroma/FAISS, and by running local LLMs through Ollama while comparing them with GPT-4. They will also work on integration tasks such as prototyping backend services for EnCoMPASS and building UI features like an “AI Respond” button. Schedule: Seasonal technicians work full-time for a period of eight months, from the beginning of April through the end of November (Thanksgiving). Travel: This position is primarily at the Rodale Institute main campus in Kutztown, PA. However, travel for this position may involve local travel to farms that are part of on-farm trials, and to local or regional workshops and conferences.
