The Role
The successful candidate will be trained to work with embryonic stem cell-derived cerebral organoids interfaced with tumor stem cell biology, to facilitate High Throughput drug screenings. They will be a key personnel of the incipient Starr Foundation Cerebral Organoid Translational Core and will report to its supervisor.
In achieving this goal, the candidate will have the opportunity to perform, and receive training in, a wide range of laboratory techniques including: reprogramming of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell culture, the generation and culture of cerebral organoids and tumor organoids and the use and development of cell based assays to test novel therapeutic drug candidates, and cutting edge gene editing and molecular biology techniques. They will be an integral member of the lab with the ability to work independently, contribute to experimental design, interpret and present your results to the wider team, and receive recognition through authorship on published work.
Job responsibilities
Collect and process biological patient specimens to establish glioma stem cell lines.
Perform routine human iPSC/ESC culture.
Generation and maintenance of hESC-derived cerebral organoids.
Perform 2D and 3D high-throughput drug screening using luminescence-based assays.
Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs and summary reports of all procedures and results including graphs, scientific calculations, and statistical analysis charting.
May run routine biochemistry assays including western blotting and RT-PCR.

Job Duties: Interns will gain hands-on experience working on various conservation research projects at the North Carolina Aquariums lab at the NCSU Center for Marine Sciences and Technology in Morehead City, NC. Because we have a variety of ongoing projects, students would have some choices of research
projects. Our aim is to offer a wide range of experiences, including field work in coastal habitats, with a diversity of conservation projects.
Major Task to be Performed:
Research will be conducted under the daily supervision of Dr. Carol Price, the conservation research coordinator. One of the largest projects students will work on is Spot A Shark USA (SAS). The student working with SAS will learn how to process sand tiger shark images that are uploaded by citizen scientists
using an image analysis software. The spots on the sides of the sharks are digitally mapped, resulting in a library of uniquely identified individuals. This collective database of sharks is being used to understand how sand tiger sharks use the shipwreck habitats off the North Carolina coast. Other projects include headstarting the Carolina gopher frog (a native species of frog with highly decreased population being considered for listing under the Endangered Species Act) for release back into ponds in the Croatan National Forest, and
monitoring Crystal skipper (an endemic butterfly) populations on the barrier island. Additional opportunities may be developed that align with Aquarium needs and intern interests or skills.
Final Product or Outcome Anticipated: Interns will gain experience with methods for conducting research, data management, research software, data analysis, report writing, scientific communication and project organization

Graduate research assistant job in New York, NY
GraduateAssistants (GAs) are integral in building community at SIA-NY in that they create a welcoming environment, assist with student and visitor questions and concerns, and maintain a clean, organized space in the 6th Floor Student Commons area in the Library. In addition to providing quality customer service, GAs are responsible for performing a variety of front desk and clerical functions in both the Commons and the Library.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following, but the individual will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary which are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.
6th Floor Commons / Reception Area
Front desk coverage (including reception and answering/ directing telephone inquiries) for evenings and weekends;
Provide support to and assist in the management of after-hours happenings at the Institute including, community events, MA classes, and evening study hours. Community events support may include artist lectures, career workshops, book signings, and admission events;
Work with IT to troubleshoot and assist presenters with audiovisual and classroom issues;
Coordinate with all facility, student, and staff in case of emergencies (may include fire alarm checks, 911 emergencies, or building evacuations) and;
Other office clerical duties as assigned
Library
Staff the Library circulation desk and use the library management system to issue, return and renew library materials;
Answer in-person and telephone inquiries, guiding patrons to both hardcopy and e-resource; refer complex inquiries to the librarians for further assistance. Record all inquiries both in-person and remotely into Springshare's LibAnswers;
Provide basic IT support when necessary;
Provide support for projects, such as annual collection audits;
Re-shelve books, periodicals, and complete shelf tidying/reading duties;
Open the library during morning coverage and close the library during evening coverage;
Provide evening and weekend coverage during term time, along with possible additional hours if necessary
Work on special projects, as needed.

Candidates must be current first-semester student at Sotheby's Institute of Art -NY and in good academic standing.
Bachelor's Degree.
Experience working in an administrative role is preferred.
Candidates with face-to-face customer service experience will be given priority.

This position will report to the Occupational Therapy Program Director. The Director of Scholarship and Research advances the university's mission, purpose, and goals by providing program-specific expertise and leadership in scholarship, research, and innovation. This role fosters a culture of academic integrity, supports accreditation and licensure compliance, and ensures that graduate outcomes meet professional, academic, workplace, and placement expectations. As an educator, role model, mentor, and facilitator, the Director focuses on doctoral-level scholarship and culminating projects, working closely with the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator to assist students in developing, refining, and enacting scholarly projects that uphold academic rigor and professional relevance. The Director also builds relationships with external research partners and nurtures professional collaboration within and beyond the university.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Director actively supports department initiatives, ensuring internal consistency and alignment with programmatic accreditation standards. The position is integral in facilitating student learning within prescribed research courses, creating an educational environment that fosters innovation, responsiveness, and accountability. The Director actively participates in the assessment of student research projects, helping to ensure that students meet prescribed scholarly outcomes. The Director serves as a liaison between the occupational therapy program and potential research partners, while promoting the ongoing development of professional collaboration and scholarship across the curriculum.
Position Responsibilities:
INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Experience & Educational Background:
EDUCATION:
* Must hold a research doctorate (PhD, ScD, DrPH, or OTD with a research focus) from an accredited university with experience in curriculum development, research, and supervision of graduate projects
* Must have demonstrated ongoing scholarly achievement, research expertise, and ability to secure research funding
EXPERIENCE:
* Teaching experience preferred. Instructional experience must be at institutions that are Title IV funding eligible
* Minimum of two years supervising or mentoring student research or scholarship projects at a minimum of a master's level
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
* Candidates who are Occupational Therapy Practitioners must be certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) as a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) and must hold a current New York State license (or be eligible for licensure)
* All other candidates must hold a valid professional license or meet any regulatory requirements applicable to their profession
* Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by any accreditation body that Yeshiva University is accredited by or in the process of obtaining accreditation from, for the area of expertise and expectations of the faculty member, as set forth in regulatory documents and any professional certifications deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the teaching role
