We are a Boston-based epidemiology and biomedical research organization seeking a full-time, in-person clinical research assistant for a research study examining a remotely delivered physical activity promotion and Tai Chi intervention for patients with COPD and/or heart failure at the VA Boston Healthcare System (West Roxbury campus).
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Assistant supports all aspects of the research project(s), including technical, clinical and administrative duties including (but not limited to) recruitment and screening of research participants, conducting outcome testing and performing clinical assessments as detailed in the study protocol(s). The position requires careful attention to detail in collecting study data, and reliable and accurate execution of other required study-related tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator. The Research Assistant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of research data and serves as the focal point for interactions among the research participants enrolled in the project(s). Training will be provided in the study techniques including all assessment methods.
There is opportunity for the candidate to actively participate in writing abstracts and research papers, and delivering scientific presentations. A successful candidate will gain valuable experience and knowledge working in all phases of the clinical research process, including study design and implementation, data collection with direct interactions with patients, regulatory oversight, and analysis and interpretation of results while embedded in a clinical, hospital setting. This position is ideal for someone wishing to gain hands-on experience in a clinical or health-related field. /Responsibilities
Responsible for managing study participant processing and flow from initial recruitment, informed consent and enrollment, and follow-up assessments.
Conducts surveys in-person and virtually using standardized survey instruments or specific assessment tools detailed in the study protocol(s).
Manages research data in REDCap per research protocol(s) and established SOPs.
Reviews and verifies research data ensuring appropriate data tracking, storage and security procedures are in place.
Compiles, prepares, and assists in developing reports for internal and external oversight entities.
Maintains integrity and confidentiality of data, private health information and personal identifying information.
Attends all study-related meetings.
Skills and Experience
Degree required: Minimum of BA, BSc that includes courses in biological, social, or public health sciences is preferred.
Previous research or clinical experience with human subjects is preferred but not required.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of standard computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, REDCap, and standard audiovisual conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
Candidates seeking a 2-year commitment or greater are preferred.
The employee must be a resident of Massachusetts upon start date.

THE OPPORTUNITY The Graduate Assistant will support the Undergraduate Center for Career Development (UG CCD) advising team. Conduct one-on-one career advising meetings via in-person and virtual appointments.
Support career drop-in advising by conducting resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile reviews in the office, as well as career advising pop-ups across campus.
Delegate complex career advising cases to appropriate staff members in a timely fashion.
Design, execute, and evaluate inclusive career education workshops and panels as assigned.
Provide occasional support as needed at large-scale programs and events such as orientation, Launch Babson, family weekend, career fairs, recruiting and networking events.
Complete special projects as assigned which may include research, benchmarking, brainstorming, and assessing career resources, programs, tools, and strategies.
Maintain lists of Inclusive Excellence resources to guide students to proper staff, faculty, and external resources.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.
WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Enrolled in a graduate program focused on inclusion and belonging, higher education administration, educational leadership, student development and counseling, or related program.
Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Strong organization and project management skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Maintain high standards of ethical conduct when working with students, staff, faculty, and confidential information.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
This is a part-time, temporary position working approximately 20 hours per week from January 2026 through May 2026.
Some evening work may be required.
This position will be required to work on Babson's campus.

PREFERRED SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

Job Summary
Provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include: following established policies and procedures, aids with research studies, collecting and organizing study data; data extraction from the longitudinal medical record; consenting patients to enroll in the study and fill out study questionnaires; maintaining and updating data generated by the study; maintaining regulatory documentation; tracking expenditures.

Aids with research studies as per guidelines and protocols. Approaches patients to fill out surveys and ensures completion. Follows up with patients to ensure questionnaires are completed. Working within existing data systems to ensure correct tabulation of data. Organizes and processes study data. Creates and maintains databases/files containing study data using standard Division practices. Assists Investigators and other study personnel in executing studies. Carries out standard and study-specific events as outlined in the study orders, SOPs, and other written documents. Drafts and/or modifies written procedures for study-specific events/data procedures. Acts as a liaison between Investigators, hospital staff, administrative staff, subject recruiters, and research subjects to identify areas for quality and workflow improvements. Assists Investigator in research activities. Performs review of written reports and manuscripts. Assists in preparation and submission of IRB documents, other applications, as well as grants. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards including HIPPA compliance
