The Fine Lab The Fine lab is a Neuro-oncology research group that makes use of complex 3D human brain tumor models (GLICOs: ********************************************* ********************************************* to perform translational research into glioblastoma. The Role The successful candidate will be trained to work with embryonic stem cell-derived cerebral organoids interfaced with tumor stem cell biology, to facilitate High Throughput drug screenings. In achieving this goal, the candidate will have the opportunity to perform, and receive training in, a wide range of laboratory techniques including: reprogramming of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell culture, the generation and culture of cerebral organoids and tumor organoids and the use and development of cell based assays to test novel therapeutic drug candidates, and cutting edge gene editing and molecular biology techniques. Functions and Duties The Research Assistant will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties: 1. Assists with research for educational purposes. 2. Assists in identifying perspective subjects for research. 3. Assists in researching information for grants, research grants and research papers. 4. Searches literature sources pertaining to the relevant areas of research. 5. Assists in collecting, recording, compiling, summarizing data, and disseminating information. 6. Participates in research activities related to the subject area being investigated such as events, interviews, reading articles, listening to speakers. 7. Performs other duties as assigned Position Specific Functions The student researcher will play a key role in data generation, collection, and analysis, and will be involved in research program development for future phases. The student researcher will also assist in organizing testing days, focus group sessions, including contacting participants and coordinating with senior members of the research team.
