Fellows collaborate to lead Story Works programming, serve as role models for students, and represent the program and the Forum within the Anchorage School District. Position Description Teaching Fellows work collaboratively to lead two-week storytelling workshops in Anchorage School District schools, helping students explore and share their personal stories. Under the supervision of the Youth Program Manager, Fellows build supportive relationships with youth, facilitate workshop activities, and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment. The role also involves coordinating with volunteers, preparing workshop materials, and supporting related programming. Major Areas of Responsibility Facilitate two week Story Telling Workshops with the support of other Teaching Fellows and program staff Build supportive relationships with students as they explore and share their own stories Support volunteer involvement including outreach for Story Coaching days and the general sharing of information related to future volunteer opportunities. Additional Responsibilities: Support the preparation of necessary workshop materials including student booklets, program promotional materials or student stickers. Support implementation of Story Works essay writing workshops Support the creation of a space for youth resilience building, healthy social connections, and strengthening relationships with trusted adults. Qualifications: Passion for youth storytelling Strong organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices in youth engagement and education Will be expected to be onsite at Anchorage School District schools. Ability to drive a personal vehicle preferred. SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Adjunct Instructor teaches one or more courses within the Construction Trades Technology (CTT) division, specifically Electrical and Plumbing (no more than 7.5 credits per semester). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares and maintains updated instructional materials, course outlines, and curriculum. Develops and submits current syllabus, using the college template. Prepares administrative documents, such as student withdrawals and attendance. Evaluates student performance and submits grades to the registrar. Maintain office hours (in-person, telephonically, or online). Participates in professional development as necessary to be proficient in the college's current technologies and learning platform (Empower and MyCampus). Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrated professional and/or teaching experience in Construction Trades. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment. Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Demonstrated teaching experience in a post-secondary environment. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development. Demonstrated experience with distance delivery. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check. Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational work experience; North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions. Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community. Ability to support Ilisagvik College's mission. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]: Has attained the following: High school diploma or equivalent. Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications. One year of related professional industry or post-secondary teaching experience. Certified NCCER Instructor or have the ability to become a certified NCCER Instructor within 90 days. Valid driver's license. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]: Journeyman status with five years of recent related professional experience or equivalent qualifications or NCCER Instructor Qualified in Plumbing and Electrical.
