HBNS is known for rapidly growing research, dynamic teaching, student engagement, and departmental collaborations.
The Nutrition Counseling, Research and Training Clinic (NCRTC) is part of HBNS and provides medical nutrition therapy services to the community while engaging in innovative research initiatives and training students to be future nutrition professionals. There is also a Health Coaching Clinic that provides services to the community and serves as a training site for students in the Graduate Certificate program in Health Coaching.
The College of Health Sciences is a dynamic, innovative academic unit with more than 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students and 131 faculty, who are nationally recognized leaders across multiple disciplines. Nature and Scope
An incumbent in this class typically reports to the Dean of Instruction through an Instructional Director, Department Chairperson or Program Coordinator. Principal Accountabilities
An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities as determined by the supervisor:
1. Plans, organizes, and instructs courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor, utilizing effective and engaging instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructional/educational technology to promote student success. Normal teaching contact hours per week are 18, unless otherwise modified by the Department Chairperson/Dean.
2. Demonstrates best practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students' diverse academic needs.
3. Uses instructional technology including multimedia to meet students' learning needs and achieve the objectives of the academic program/College.
4. Assists or leads in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses, as assigned by the Department Chairperson/Dean. Evaluates and revises existing curriculum and courses as part of the annual course evaluation process and/or as assigned. Contributes to program review.
5. Participates in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA).
6. Serves as an advisor for students, utilizing effective advisement strategies, the Student Educational Plan and other advisement tools to promote student retention and progression.
7. Assists students toward the successful completion of course(s) which the instructor is teaching by providing outreach, guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved forms of academic support.
8. Makes oneself accessible and available to assist students. Provides a minimum of six (6) posted office hours per week to students.

Nature and Scope

Principal Accountabilities

2. Demonstrates best practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students' diverse academic needs.
3. Uses instructional technology including multimedia to meet students' learning needs and achieve the objectives of the academic program/College.
4. Assists or leads in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses, as assigned by the Department Chairperson/Dean. Evaluates and revises existing curriculum and courses as part of the annual course evaluation process and/or as assigned. Contributes to program review.
5. Participates in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA).
6. Serves as an advisor for students, utilizing effective advisement strategies, the Student Educational Plan and other advisement tools to promote student retention and progression.
7. Assists students toward the successful completion of course(s) which the instructor is teaching by providing outreach, guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved forms of academic support.

College of Health Sciences , Open-Rank The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Delaware seeks an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated individual for an open-rank, continuing-track (non-tenure) faculty appointment in the Biostatistics Core, beginning August 15, 2026. The candidate will serve as a key member of research teams across the College, supporting faculty research by providing expertise in study design, advanced statistical analysis, and collaboratively contributing to grant applications and research dissemination. The appointee will hold a continuing-track (CT) faculty appointment affiliated with one of the College's departments, aligned with the candidate's expertise and research interests. The position is primarily research-focused, with additional responsibilities including teaching one course per year and engaging in departmental and college service. The CT appointment rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. CT faculty with terminal degrees hold professorial rank and have a path to promotion to full professor.
The ideal candidate will have strong statistical expertise, a demonstrated record of successful research collaboration, an appropriate level of scholarly productivity, and exceptional communication and collaboration skills. The candidate should be proficient in statistical software packages such as R and SAS, with experience in Stata, JMP, Python, Mplus, or SPSS considered an asset. Experience in designing statistical approaches for clinical trials and complex/intensive longitudinal studies, and conducting data analysis, is highly desirable. Responsibilities include: (1) contributing to grant applications by conducting power/sample size calculations, developing analysis plans, drafting analysis sections, and serving as senior personnel; (2) recommending and performing novel or optimized analytic methods to ensure reproducibility, robustness, and scientific rigor; and (3) supporting manuscript and grant report development through data visualization and writing the methods and results sections. Experience with grant-funded projects is essential. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are critical for success in this key role, which involves collaborating with diverse research teams across the College.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, quantitative psychology, research methodology, or other related field from an accredited institution is required. Experience serving as a statistician in federal and foundation grant applications is preferred. A minimum of two years research experience applying advanced statistical methods in health sciences is highly desirable.
