On behalf of Dr. Daniel Herz, Division Chief of Urology at Connecticut Childrens, CareerPhysician, LLC, a leader in academic pediatric recruitment, has initiated a national search to identify a talented fellowship-trained pediatric urology provider to serve an expanding clinical and educational presence for the division in Westport, CT, 54 miles north of Manhattan.
Opportunity Highlights:
Connecticut Childrens is the states only stand-alone childrens hospital. The clinic in Fairfield County is critical to the clinical growth strategy for Connecticut Childrens urology service and will serve as an anchor program for the brand, with a reach of approximately 1.5 million pediatric patient lives.
The hospital recently opened a brand new new multi-specialty clinic in Westport, CT that houses new office space for multiple specialties, including procedure rooms and an ambulatory surgical center just minutes from the clinic. The joining provider will participate in divisional educational programs and be well supported with faculty outreach and division designated ancillary support, including nurses and MAs. There will be opportunities to participate in clinical research.
The selected physician will work closely with the division chief to build on Connecticut Childrens established presence in the region and be expected to function at a high level establishing the framework of the Westport practice within the framework of a larger program, serving as the first full-time pediatric urology physician in southern Connecticut. This will be predominantly an outpatient clinic position centered in Fairfield County with no on-call responsibility at Connecticut Childrens Hospital in Hartford.
The selected urologist will receive full-time nursing support in the clinic, in addition to a full-time APP, which has already been budgeted by the division.
The selected provider will be charged with focusing on building relationships and referrals in Fairfield County while serving as a brand ambassador for Connecticut Childrens in one of the fastest growing counties in the region.
Medical directorship appointment will be considered after one year of faculty service in Westport.
Block time will be available at two regional Surgery Center Centers in Stamford and Norwalk.
Higher level cases may be performed at the main hospital in Hartford
The physician will supervise advanced practice providers (APRNs & PAs)

Collaborates with the teacher to design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum as guided by SYC's curriculum document, the CT ELDS, and NAEYC's accreditation standards. This includes helping to set up the classroom and maintaining necessary educational materials to attract and keep children's interests.
Supports the teacher in modifying curriculum and lesson plans as needed to support the learning environment and to guide short & long term learning goals for children.
Shares assessment observations and CT DOTS documentation with the teacher. Assists in gathering assessment documentation such as narratives, work samples, and photos. Supports the teacher during the family-teacher conferences.
Supports SYC in maintaining NAEYC accreditation status by participating in various activities during re-accreditation cycles. Throughout each year, supports the teacher in maintaining the classroom portfolio. The portfolio is reviewed at least once per month to assess sections in need of updating.
Welcomes families into the program on a daily basis. Supports the teacher in communicating with families about children's activities and progress. Supports a welcoming environment for families by attending school family events such as picnics and fundraiser.
Supports college student's professional development through modeling and supportive interactions.
Acts as a teacher in the teacher's absence.
Continues to grow professionally by attending staff meetings, workshops, courses, and other sources of professional development (reading, networking etc.)
Follows school policies and procedures as outlined in the USJ and SYC handbooks. Submits paperwork on time such as time sheets, surveys and other documents as needed. Monitors all school communications through the USJ email account and alert systems.
