Supporting course preparation through activities such as literature review
Scoring student assignments
Providing written and verbal feedback on student assignments or activities
Leading small discussion or activity groups (e.g. such as Prac 0 supervision groups)
Attending occasional lectures - if requested by faculty (attendance for personal benefit does not qualify); budget does not permit TAs to attend every class session or class sessions in their entirety
Teaching in areas of experience as requested by the faculty member
Record keeping for the course as requested by the faculty member
Facilitating lab/review meetings as requested by the faculty member
Meeting individually with students for assistance in the student's academic formation and growth in the course content area
Developing or maintaining a communication structure that allows the Professor and the class to interact outside of the classroom (includes Canvas).

Position Summary

Supports the establishment of rich and engaging physical learning environments and encourages children's ownership and contributions to the classroom.
Helps to create a safe, clean, attractive and engaging centers that encourage both exploration and complex play.
Plans and preps daily to ensure the classroom contains sufficient supplies with adequate materials for all children.
Establishes clear behavior expectations, rules and procedures to maximize learning time. Ensures effective implementation of universal behavior management systems as well as targeted plans to support student behavior.
Actively supports diverse learners through the development of young children's early literacy, language, math, science, social studies and social emotional development using intentional, playful and engaging instruction.
Implements the Every Child Ready (ECR) instructional model with fidelity and collaborates with teaching teams' members to ensure fidelity.
Intentionally provides modeling and support for children's expressive and receptive language throughout the school day including Before Care and Extended Day.
Collects and uses data from a variety of sources to understand their children's instructional needs and to improve teaching and learning by the implementation of tiered supports.
Collaborates with families and communities to support children's overall social, emotional and cognitive development. This may include communicating the school's and individual children's educational goals to families.
Contributes to a community of practice
Plans collaboratively and shares ideas and resources with instructional teams (including Before Care and Extended Day teams).
Communicates students' academic and social-emotional data and information from Before Care or Extended Day to all members of the instructional teams to ensure aligned support.
Actively participates on at least one site-wide committee.

Your impact
Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a critical role in supporting ~25-30 Learners (as part of a larger class) in Correlation One's virtual training programs. During that time, TAs will be expected to provide both synchronous and asynchronous support to Learners, ensuring their learning, comprehension, and retention of program content.

A day in the life
Expectations during live (synchronous) sessions:
Attend and proactively engage in the mandatory Pre-Program TA Onboarding. Dates and times will be announced.
Monitor appropriate Slack channels (#c1-TA, #live-chat, #extra-help, and other relevant channels) for Learner questions and answer them promptly.
Check-in with Learners after each live session by asking how they're feeling about the content, if they have any questions, or if there is anything that they need further clarity.
Facilitate breakout rooms during lecture time, when applicable.
Assist in keeping the session progressing should the Lead Instructor experience technical difficulty or is otherwise unable to deliver the lecture.
Expectations during days of no live sessions:
Monitor appropriate Slack channels for Learner questions and answer them within 24 hours.
Foster discussion by posing questions of your own and sharing relevant links in the #resources channel or in other appropriate Slack channels.
Use the #c1-TA channel to share any important information during a lecture that needs the attention of Correlation One staff or fellow Expert Network staff.
Review content materials (including lab, projects, extended cases, etc..) for the next lecture to ensure you are prepared to answer Learner questions.
Hold up to six (6) Individual Office Hours via Zoom with Learners in the program so they can ask any additional questions or get support as necessary.
Grade Learner submissions of exercises and projects within seven (7) days of submission.
Support continuous program improvement by providing thoughtful feedback to Correlation One team via Weekly Write Ups.
Submit weekly write-ups summarizing the week's accomplishments and challenges and provide insights on each Learner. This is due by Sunday at 8:00pm ET each week.
Attend and participate in the weekly staff meeting with Correlation One team and other Expert Network staff.
Attend all scheduled meetings with your camera on, ensuring active engagement and professional presence.
Your expertise
3-5 years of professional work experience in Cloud Support, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, Networking, DevOps, etc.
A desire to support students in expanding their careers in technical roles
Empathy, flexibility, patience; passion for working with diverse learners who are new to content

Under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position classification is defined as exempt and is not subject to overtime regulations.
The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the Oregon Revised Statutes and is required to comply with the requirements set forth by the Oregon Department of Human Services.

Conditions of Employment: Workload expectations are outlined in the APSOU CBA, Article 19. Teaching assignments may include First Year Seminar, online and/or hybrid courses, Medford and Ashland campus classes, and day, evening, and weekend courses.
Compensation: Any formally approved and authorized salary change shall automatically amend this contract.

We want to take this moment to acknowledge that Southern Oregon University is located within the ancestral homelands of the Shasta, Takelma, and Latgawa peoples who lived here since time immemorial. These Tribes were displaced during rapid Euro-American colonization, the Gold Rush, and armed conflict between 1851 and 1856. In the 1850s, discovery of gold and settlement brought thousands of Euro-Americans to their lands, leading to warfare, epidemics, starvation, and villages being burned. In 1853 the first of several treaties were signed, confederating these Tribes and others together - who would then be referred to as the Rogue River Tribe. These treaties ceded most of their homelands to the United States, and in return they were guaranteed a permanent homeland reserved for them. At the end of the Rogue River Wars in 1856, these Tribes and many other Tribes from western Oregon were removed to the Siletz Reservation and the Grand Ronde Reservation. Today, the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon (*************************** and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians (************************* are living descendants of the Takelma, Shasta, and Latgawa peoples of this area.
