The College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in the State of Illinois, provides care for 35,000 patients a year, and has over 500 students seeking dental degrees including DMD, PhD and Master's programs. The faculty member will have clinical, research, teaching and service obligations. These responsibilities include direct and indirect involvement in the post-doctoral and pre-doctoral specialty educational programs for DMD and Advanced Standing students, as well as postgraduate residents in the College of Dentistry's Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). The programmatic responsibilities include didactic, laboratory, clinical and patient care courses and other assignments for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). The faculty member shall work with the OMFS Department Head and be responsible for development of the program curriculum, staff development and administrative needs of the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinical and educational programs. Research and scholarly activities are expected as well as presentations of abstracts, posters, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Minimum qualifications include Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)/Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a MD degree, and fellowship training in head and neck oncology/microvascular reconstruction required. Completion of an American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA) accredited advanced education program in OMFS. Dental (and medical, if applicable) licensure in the state of Illinois. OMFS Board Certification by the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Preferred qualifications include experience in evidenced-based dentistry, curriculum development and practice management. Postdoctoral training with an outstanding research and publication record. History of academic accomplishments and the ability to develop an independent research program with evidence of successful procurement of internal and external grant funding on a competitive basis. A demonstrated ability, or high potential, to attract external funding. Strong commitment to interdisciplinary patient care and willingness to engage with other academic departments. History of sustained and ongoing intramural and extramural funded research, with academic/scientific experience in research mentoring. ABOMS Diplomate status highly preferred, or educational qualification for such status. Experience such as leadership in teaching, mentoring, research, or service towards building an equitable and diverse academic and scholarly environment. Previous university-level teaching experience both at the pre-doctoral and post graduate levels. Ability to mentor students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and research funding. Demonstrated experience of mentoring junior faculty, and graduate and/or professional students. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative research between a dental school and outside entities (e.g. medical center) is desired. This is a student position. Interested applicants will need to submit an application for admission into a degree-granting graduate program at elmhurst.edu/graduatestudies and be accepted before becoming eligible for consideration for a graduate assistant position that correlates with their area of study. Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may be hired for a full tuition waiver based on 20 hours of service per week. Graduate assistants also receive a stipend while they are working, paid bi-weekly, in support of their continued education. Graduate assistants participate in their assistantships during the Fall and Spring terms at minimum, and may be required to participate during January and/or Summer terms. Eligible Graduate Programs: Master of Business Administration, M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology Weekly Hours: 20 Tuition Waiver: Full Stipend: $2,500 stipend in spring semester 2026 ($625 per month between February and May 2026); if renewed for the 2026-2027 academic year, $5,625 ($625 per month between September 2026 and May 2027). Essential Functions * Aids the head coach in the organization and operation of an effective and competitive football program. * Assists the head coach in the coordination of recruitment of student-athletes. * Maintains and updates a sufficient inventory of equipment. Oversees the issuing and collecting of all equipment, uniforms, supplies, and materials. * Coordinates all team travel arrangements for the program. * Attends all pre-season conditioning and non-traditional season practices for the football program. * Attends and participates in all team planning sessions with coaching staff. * Aids in the planning, organizing, and executing of all in-season practice sessions for football. * Conducts on-field coaching during intercollegiate contests as set by the head coach. * Develops and carries out fundraising projects when appropriate. * Works closely with the head coach and Director of Athletic Communications pertaining to all media relations, providing information for the promotional needs of game programs, team media guides, recruiting brochures and other publications. * Responsible for reporting to the media, via the Director of Athletic Communications, all scores, statistics, and game results when competing on the road. * Demonstrates a working knowledge of Elmhurst University, NCAA, CCIW and rules and regulations. * Adheres to NCAA Compliance Regulations. * Endorses and supports other sports within the Athletic Department as outlined by the Director of Athletics in roles such as transportation or game management assistance. * Endorses and supports other areas within Student Affairs including attendance at all meetings. * Interacts with all other University constituencies and actively participates in their events. Required abilities include walking, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods; may require lifting and transporting equipment in excess of 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally; and using fine motor skills to operate and maneuver a range of athletic or training equipment.
