This program is typically 30-100 days of residential placement followed by 12 weeks of non-residential treatment and recovery maintenance. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors work with licensed mental health professionals, medical staff, peer recovery specialists, and other supplemental services including on-site parenting groups and case management to provide a holistic array of services. Interns will gain experience in counseling, case management, assessment, crisis intervention, documentation and group facilitation. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in co-occurring/dual diagnosis populations. Being in a behavioral health program (e.g., LADC) is preferred. Family Treatment Center Internship Similar to the Wayside Women's Treatment Center, services are provided both in a residential and non-residential setting. At Wayside Family Treatment, women are able to receive treatment services while their child(ren) live with them. This program is typically 45-100 days of residential treatment followed by 10 weeks of non-residential treatment. The staff consists of a multidisciplinary team of substance use disorder and mental health counselors, case managers, parenting specialists, peer recovery specialists, and medical staff. Interns will gain experience in counseling, family dynamics, mental health with children, case management, assessment, crisis intervention, documentation, and group facilitation. -Number of interns per semester: 2 Preferred Qualifications: Experience/education in co-occurring/dual diagnosis populations. Being in a dual licensure program is preferred. JOB Description REPORTS TO: Internship Supervisor and Treatment Director JOB SUMMARY: Helps with individual and group counseling services following 245G guidelines in a co-occurring, residential and non-residential substance use treatment disorder program. Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Under the supervision of an LADC, intern may provide coverage to clinical teams as assigned. Under the supervision of an LADC, intern may manage a small case load of women with co-occurring disorders. Under the supervision of an LADC, provide direct services to clients including interviewing clients, assessment, treatment/aftercare planning, individual and group counseling, and monitoring/evaluating client progress. Under the supervision of an LADC, facilitate counseling and didactic groups; educational groups; conduct family meetings when possible. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary staff meetings. Under the supervision of an LADC, maintain accurate, timely and complete records, including but not limited to documenting client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, continuing care plans and discharge summaries. Under the supervision of an LADC, maintain on-going communication with referral sources, including written progress reports and phone communication. Role model behavior, which is consistent with and supportive to people in recovery from substance use disorders. Such behavior will include upholding ethical standards, reliable attendance and adhering to the mission of Wayside Recovery Center. Attend commencements and client events as scheduled. Identify available resources and refer clients to appropriate community services. Under the supervision of an LADC, facilitate client access to community resources. Under the supervision of an LADC, serve as a liaison to and/or provide in-services to substance use disorder and other related community service agencies as directed. Participate in in-services, workshops, coursework, and other continuing education relative to quality client care. Under the supervision of an LADC, provide crisis intervention/evaluation as needed. Participate in clinical supervision as outlined and indicated by the students' school and licensing entity, with the minimum frequency of twice monthly. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills: Demonstrated ability to provide programming and relate effectively towards clients and families of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Organizational and excellent computer skills essential. Strong attention to detail, thinking capabilities and humor are welcome. Must be able to pass DHS background study and meet applicable requirements and regulations. A valid Minnesota driver's license with a good driving record.
