Teaching Assistant - Mechanical Engineering 531
This position is for a teaching assistant who will help to: set up laboratory experiments using accelerometers and other vibration measurement and excitation devices for ME EN 531, help students and answer questions related to data acquisition using Siemens TestLab systems, and answer general questions about vibrations and about the design and execution of structural dynamic tests.
What you'll do in this position:
* Help answer student questions related to structural dynamic testing such as: how to perform various operations in the Siemens TestLab software, how to tell if the system is working and the measurements are reasonable, how to diagnose problems, how to export data to Matlab and/or Python for analysis, how to post process measurements, etc.
* Answer questions regarding students' final projects, which may pertain to a wide range of dynamic systems. How to design a test appropriate for their system, troubleshooting the sensors and data acquisition, and interpret and post-process data.
* Help to set up lab experiments, by gathering hardware, mounting vibration sensors, setting up suspension systems, and verifying that all hardware is functioning.
* Answer student questions regarding vibrations theory including the transient and steady-state response of single- and multiple-degree-of-freedom systems, fast Fourier transform analysis, signal processing, modal analysis of multiple-degree-of-freedom systems, linear algebra and other topics needed to help them to complete the relevant homework.
* Help students to create and debug scripts in Matlab and Python, to perform data analysis for structural dynamic systems.

Required Knowledge:

The candidate will gain experience in advanced techniques in retinal research: ex vivo electrophysiology, dissection skills, data analysis, computational modeling, and animal handling and surgery. Responsibilities
Learn techniques in retinal electrophysiology (multielectrode array) and/or fluorescence imaging and/or immunohistochemistry and/or animal surgery and/or analysis of large-scale data. Design and conduct experiments, collect data, and analyze data, under the guidance of Principal Investigator. Coordinate with members of the lab (graduate students, postdocs, lab technicians), and members of other labs in collaborative projects. Attend lab meetings and generate progress reports on projects. Present research findings at conferences and workshops. Drafting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, under the guidance of Principal Investigator. Write proposals for grants, under the guidance of Principal Investigator. Perform routine lab tasks as needed.

I ve never taught before, am I qualified to teach?
We hire industry professionals and help them learn how to be good teachers. Our project-based curriculum means fewer lectures and more hands-on practice. Instructors must have at least 4 years of industry experience and a bachelor s degree in a tech related field. An additional 4 years of outstanding experience and contributions to the field may be substituted for a formal degree.
Do I have to develop the curriculum?
You will use curriculum that has been developed and refined by previous Neumont instructors. We expect that you will share your individual perspective and experiences with the students to supplement the formal curriculum.
What is the process to get started?
Besides submitting an application and resume, all instructors will go through a formal application process which includes a short teaching demonstration. We will verify your work experience and educational credentials.

A doctorate in optometry and residency/fellowship OR three (3) years of full-time clinical experience in substitution of residency/fellowship is required.
Must be eligible to obtain licensure in the state of Utah.
Have an interest in teaching one of the curriculum areas: ocular disease, systemic disease, neuro-optometry, glaucoma, pediatrics, and binocular vision.
Active in local, state, and/or national optometric organizations (preferred).
Prior experience in teaching at a College of Optometry (preferred)
Demonstrate knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting contemporary optometric education.

This position requires the applicant to provide 5-10 hours per week of teaching assistance in a Hybrid Graduate Level Course (PHTH 7100 - Teaching & Learning). Responsibilities include assisting the course lead with preparation of live session materials, grading assignments with feedback, coordinating breakout rooms and zoom organization, and review of course materials for updating and course advancement (as well as prep course materials for the following year). This position may also include team meetings (held weekly) as needed for coordination. This course runs during the spring semester from January through April, with TA responsibilities anticipated throughout the duration of the spring semester. * No reportable accidents in the last 12 months.
* Must have extensive knowledge of pre-trip procedures and be able to safely demonstrate proper backing, shifting, and driving procedures.
* Requires familiarity with the use of multiple Trucking/CDL loading, unloading, and cargo securement processes.
* Demonstrates the ability to teach Trucking/CDL concepts, best practices, and all curriculum that equates to the student earning their Class A CDL with endorsements.
* Capable of instructing students on current Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration standards.
* Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.Requires basic computer skills.
* Must be able to deliver instruction in a variety of methods and produce instructional outcomes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Possess a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
