Join Our Team at the Fulton Behavioral Health Crisis Center
We are seeking an experienced and licensed clinician (LPC or LCSW) to become a key member of the interdisciplinary team at Grady Health System's newest behavioral health initiative - the Fulton Behavioral Health Crisis Center.
This innovative facility includes:
* A 24-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
* A 16-bed Temporary Observation Unit
* An Emergency Receiving Unit
We provide emergency evaluations and short-term crisis stabilization services, with a focus on enhancing patient safety, supporting self-care, and ensuring effective discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
The clinician will play a critical role in delivering patient-centered care and collaborating with the broader treatment team. Responsibilities include:
* Assessing patients to determine continued eligibility for involuntary hold.
* Conducting suicide risk assessments (CSSRS.)
* Performing in-depth "High-Risk" suicide evaluations, including MEANS safety planning.
* Creating individualized crisis safety plans.
* Contacting collaterals to gather patient history, baseline functioning, and safety concerns.
* Collaborating with the unit social workers to identify appropriate aftercare and community resources.
* Leading therapeutic groups and psychoeducation sessions.
* Developing behavioral improvement plans.
* Monitoring the State Bed Board and coordinating transfers from nearby emergency rooms to the Fulton Regional Behavioral Health Crisis Center.
* Engaging therapeutically with patients across all levels of care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree in Counseling or Behavioral Sciences is required.
* Two (2) years of experience with the SPMI and/or Additive Disease population, preferably in a full-time status, is required.
* Active Georgia LCSW or LPC license is required. Candidates transferring from another state must obtain Georgia license prior to start date.
* American Heart Association (BLS) Basic Life Support certification is required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience working in a mentalhealth crisis unit or similar acute setting.
* Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, particularly with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI.)
* Ability to distinguish between chronic vs. acute risk factors and determine what is modifiable in a short-term inpatient setting.
* Sensitivity to the impact of socioeconomic factors and social determinants of health on access to care and treatment outcomes.
* Ability to work both independently and as an active member of a multidisciplinary team, making informed clinical decisions in high-pressure situations.
* Comfort and experience working with high-acuity patients and those with SPMI.
* Familiarity with the legal and clinical aspects of working with involuntary patients.

Clinician does clinical interviewing to conduct biopsychosocial assessments on admission for outpatient services. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides consultation, guidance and leadership to patients and staff in the emergency departments.
Provides consultation to inpatient patients as referred for evaluation and placement of care recommendations.
Assist in the diagnosis, 1013/2013 assessment and ongoing management, risk assessments and placement of patients in the emergency department and inpatient floors.
Ensures assigned behavioral health patients have adequate discharge plans for care.
Support psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses in their role within the medical model.
Participates in the quality improvement process by identifying programmatic issues, collecting data used to monitor quality and analyzing information.
Provides in-services, workshops and educational services to non-BH staff to assist with behavioral health care within the hospital system.
Maintains working knowledge of regulatory requirements, including TJC, Medicare, Medicaid, State of Georgia, and other payers. Is a knowledgeable leader of programmatic changes in State of Georgia expectations.
Assumes leadership role in a crisis.
Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the BHS Clinician III
Completes clinical documentation to meet standards of care and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Master's degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related mentalhealth discipline with an emphasis on clinical experience.
Three years experience past Master's in the mentalhealth field.
Licensed as a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist), or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)
Must be CPR certified.
PREFERRED:

* Provides high quality patient care, displaying good skills in psychiatric counseling.
* Provides group therapy, individual counseling, family and marriage counseling, and discharge planning.
* Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
* Provides diagnostic evaluations and interprets complex psychosocial factors for a variety of psychiatric and addiction patients.
* Relates accepted theories of psychiatry/psychology to practice situations.
* Assesses the particular needs of psychiatric and addiction patients and their families when appropriate to the patient's treatment.
* Assesses conflicts and problems leading to complaints and symptoms that bring individuals to inpatient/outpatient psychiatric/addiction treatment.
* Provides emergency assessment of potential patients in need of inpatient hospitalization or other appropriate alternatives.
* Conducts assigned groups and therapy sessions with patients and/or their families and documents per policy.
* Makes referral to aftercare group therapy for former patients.
* May conduct therapy sessions for Partial Hospitalization day or evening program or evening Aftercare groups.
* Ensures that clear treatment plans are concisely written in the patient charts.
* Writes follow-up progress notes on each patient chart at the completion of each activity or therapeutic exchange as observed, case annotations and entries.

Clinician does clinical interviewing to conduct biopsychosocial assessments on admission for outpatient services.
