Responsible for the placement of all varieties of simple orthoglass splints and all forms of pre-made splints, such as knee immobilizers and slings. Performs general wound care, bandaging, and wound irrigation. Eye irrigation with both directly applied normal saline and Morgan lens. Takes vital signs. Performs accuchecks. Transports patients to and from diagnostic tests as well as to floor beds. Assists in acute and code situations. Is familiar with all aspects of emergency situations and works with MD and RN to support care of the patient. Familiar with and able to function as a member of the Code Blue disaster team. Works as a team member in triaging, staging and treating disaster patients Assists in the care of acute patients and is competent in: defibrillating pts with an AED, suctioning pts, placing pts on monitors and defibrillators. Performing EKGs and other POC testing. Sorts through initial complaints of patients in the waiting room. Assist with patient flow when ER becomes crowded.
