Under general supervision, plans and implements academic lessons, activities and plans for students in an assigned program. Assesses student's academic abilities and educational needs; develops goals and objectives for the academic portion of the student's IEPs. Oversees their implementation of identified lesson plans, and consults with support staff regarding observations and suggestions for student goals. Ensures appropriate documentation for progress reports, and daily data sheets. Provides guidance and assistance as needed. * Identifies and obtains necessary classroom supplies and equipment. * Implements crisis intervention strategies as needed. Documents and reports all incidents in accordance with policies and procedures. * Responds to inquiries from agencies, parents and/or guardians regarding student progress, goals, lessons, etc. * Prepares a variety of program related reports and documentation such as consequence records, incident reports, educational and behavioral logs, quarterly progress reports, etc. * Attends conferences and workshops to keep abreast of professional trends, developments and techniques. * Ensures the classroom is maintained, clean and safe * Participates in taking students into the community for special events or learning experiences. * Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Requires a bachelor's or masters in special education or a related field. * Requires valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility for conditional license. * Prefer 1 year of experience teaching students with special educational needs; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. * Requires State Teaching Certificate in Special Education * Behavior management program(s) (such as MANDT certification and UKERU certification) * A valid driver's license. Essential Job Functions Under general supervision, the Behavior Specialist/Behavior Technician is responsible for direct delivery of behavioral services to children and families/caregivers. This position maintains accurate record keeping of case notes and communicates with supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst about the program and the progress of the treatment plan for individuals served. The position will utilize the strategies and principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to manage a caseload of clients and work with their families by providing services in family homes or other appropriate settings. MAINTANANCE TECH III Under general supervision, performs highly skilled mechanical, electrical, plumbing diagnostic, repair and maintenance work on Grafton buildings, facilities, grounds and/or vehicles. Work involves the installation, evaluation, repair and maintenance of heating, water, air conditioning, electrical and ventilation systems and/or vehicle systems and parts. Employee is required to perform complex skilled trades work in a variety of trades areas, ensuring structural and mechanical safety, proper functioning and operations, and compliance with standards, policies and practices of the various trades. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Performs highly skilled preventive maintenance, diagnostic evaluations and repair work on a variety of building, facility and vehicle systems to include: plumbing, ventilation, carpentry, heating and air conditioning systems, food service equipment, furnaces, water and sewer pumps. * Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing facilities, heating and air conditioning systems, and various electrical systems, including lights and ballasts. * Prepares performance reports on HVAC systems; creates diagrams of HVAC systems for use during repair and maintenance. * Inspects and adjusts mechanical systems such as boilers, chillers and water heaters. Under general supervision, provides developmental motor services in natural settings for children ages birth to three. Services may include, but not limited to, initial and on-going assessment of skills, review functional needs for assistive technology, develop functional and development outcomes based on parent's priorities, provide on-going coaching and training to caregivers in natural settings. The Behavior Specialist/Behavior Technician is responsible for direct delivery of behavioral services to children and families/caregivers. This position maintains accurate record keeping of case notes and communicates with supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst about the program and the progress of the treatment plan for individuals served. The position will utilize the strategies and principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to manage a caseload of clients and work with their families by providing services in family homes or other appropriate settings.
