Operate conveyance equipment to move grain to and from storage. Unload and load trucks, shipping containers, and rail cars with grain. Operate other equipment and use hand tools to maintain good housekeeping standards and assist with minor repairs and maintenance.

What we need...

The Grain Elevator Production Operator’s primary responsibility is work as a member of a team to safely and efficiently unload various types of commodities to and from trucks, rail cars, and buildings within the facility. This position requires consistent outside work, exposure to the elements, and schedule flexibility. Starting pay is $22.50 per hour.

The hours for this position are 7am-3pm Monday - Friday, and will require overtime and weekend work as necessary during certain parts of the year.

What you'd do....

• Assist with the unloading and loading of various raw grain commodities
• Perform housekeeping activities (sweeping, shoveling, cleaning)
• Assist with other general duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscaping)
• Operate railcar loading systems and equipment
• Adhere to company safety policies and watch out for the safety of others
• Understand and follow operating procedures and policies
• Ability to perform work safely and productively

What you'd need...

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from the facility (which is not easily accessible by public transportation)
• Strong mechanical aptitude to learn operate and maintain: railcar & trans-loading equipment (e.g., hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment)
• Fluent in English at a level to be able to communicate with customers and colleagues as well as able to read and understand procedures and policies
• Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
• Basic math skills
• Computer skills for light data entry
• Strong communication skills
• Willing to work flexible hours and weekends as necessary
• As a part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment criminal background, and employment verification checks

Physical Requirements:

• Able to repetitively climb up and down railcars/ladders safely, walk up and down steps, and work at heights, sweep, and shovel grain
• Ability to work outside, including in inclement weather
• Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
• Able to stand and walk for the majority of each shift

The primary duties of this hands on job will include: grain receiving, storage, handling, drying, blending, and loading of grain; monitoring stored grain condition; and maintaining and cleaning grain facilities and equipment to provide a safe environment for you and fellow workers. You will also be involved in loading and unloading various chemicals and fertilizers. Grain Elevator Operators will be cross trained to perform a variety of tasks.

This job will be day shift 7:30am-5pm, M-F with ample overtime, including weekends.

Requirements of a successful Grain Elevator Operator:

* Travel to Healy KS and Towner CO to assist with train loading and other projects
* High school diploma or GED
* Reliable transportation
* Available to work overtime and weekends
* Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
* Professional demeanor (safety conscious, quality of job performance, cleanliness, and verbal communications)
* Able to pass a criminal background check
