Position Summary:
Responsible for the overall operations, and implementation and evaluation of activities for inpatient and emergency care at SRMC. Devotes a majority of work time to supervisory duties and regularly directs the work of two or more other employees. Role accountabilities will ensure the delivery of optimal and safe patient care which includes fiscal management, standards compliance, clinical practice, staff development, oversight and active participation in clinical practice, and performance improvement activities that evaluate program effectiveness. Role includes frequent new and varied work situations. The role involves a high degree of complexity. Role operates independently with minimal supervision. Role works to determine own practices and procedures and also contribute to the development of new concepts. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care may include Neonate, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* COORDINATION - Collaborate with Admitting Office, physicians, and patient care areas when needed as consultant to facilitate appropriate patient placement based on admitting service, diagnosis, acuity, census, and staffing considerations
* DECISION MAKING - Participate in key decision making regarding overall planning, work redesign, and staff development associated with implementing changes in patient care delivery
* MISCELLANEOUS - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
* UTILIZATION - Facilitate between hospital/system administration, departments, and medical staff ensuring cost-effective utilization of products, services, processes and resources
* COMPLIANCE - Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring Hospital operations and programs and physical properties; initiate changes as required
* EVALUATION - Administers or makes recommendations regarding performance evaluations, promotions, administration of personnel policies with staff, hiring or discipline
* POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs
* PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS - Organize and direct clinical practice in collaboration with the program medical director through development, implementation and maintenance of practice guidelines/standards
* QUALITY - Actively participate in nursing strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring, regulatory compliance, recruitment and retention of staff and patient and employee satisfaction
* LIAISON - Act as a resource & liaison among the hospital, department, health system entities, other institutions and agencies
* TRANSFERS - Participate and authorize transfers to and from other facilities with appropriate physicians, and reviewing all paperwork prior to ensure EMTLA guidelines are met
* REPORTING - Reports any incidents, and convey staff concerns and identified problems to Administration
* PATIENT CARE - Assign duties in accordance in conjunction with the unit director or designee with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registry, being able to reallocate staff via floating, implementing census management as necessary to balance patient care needs with decisions that reflect concern for the quality of care and cost effective use of resources
* SUPERVISION - Supervise and direct staff providing patient care; accountable for care provided to patients on assigned shifts. Round on all departments on responsible shifts, meeting with Charge Nurse to evaluate unit needs
* PATIENT CARE - Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients as Lead Rapid Response nurse; respond to all Code Blue events and initiate ACLS protocols as necessary
* LIAISON - Act as liaison as necessary between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management
* PATIENT SAFETY - Report potential and actual patient safety, concerns, medical errors and or near misses in a timely manner thru the chain of command and document within the PSN system
* PATIENT CARE - Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional psychological and spiritual support to patient, friends and families

Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff, children, and families.

Plan and implement a comprehensive staff development program to include but not limited to the following: mentoring, training and support, performance management, professional development plans, open and ongoing communication.
Maintain and encourage positive relationships with children, parents and staff.
Provide ongoing support to full fee families.
Participate in activities that develop professional growth.

Represent agency at community functions as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of children, families and staff.
Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the Master Teacher, Teacher, Teacher Assistant and Teacher Assist/Kitchen Aide.
Ensure Daily Health Checks are completed and documented.
Assist at other SJB locations as needed

SUPERVISION/ADMINISTRATION
Oversee up to 16 staff members.
Schedule staff in accordance with Title V requirements and center needs.
Market center to maintain enrollment at full capacity.
Ensure necessary reports and paperwork are completed accurately and submitted within the given timeframe.
Maintain accurate records to include but not limited to children's files, staff files, attendance records, Child and Adult Care food Program (CACFP) documents, meeting minutes, training documents, Contract Monitoring Review (CMR) documents, curriculum and assessments.
Order, inventory and maintain center supplies.
Submit, monitor and follow up with maintenance requests to ensure work orders are handled in a timely manner.
Facilitate staff meetings and document agendas, sign-in sheets and minutes.
Recruit and interview center-based staff as necessary.
Coach and discipline staff as needed.
Complete performance appraisals for staff at 90 days and annually.
Evaluate the performance of staff members and meet with all staff on a quarterly basis (at minimum) to set and discuss performance goals.
Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance and program quality.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ensure the health and welfare of children and staff is maintained at all times.
Mandated to report suspected child abuse.
Conduct regular facility inspections and report areas of concern to Facilities Department.
Work closely with the Facilities Department to ensure the center is free from safety hazards and remains in good repair at all times.
Ensure monthly fire drills, earthquake drills, lock down drills, and annual disaster drills are conducted.
Ensure staff understand and follow agency procedures and reporting requirements related to health and safety standards, food handling, toileting of young children, hand washing, and universal precautions with exposure to blood.
Report safety hazards and injuries immediately and ensure proper paperwork is competed in a timely manner.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of childcare including federal, state and local laws and regulations governing childcare and safety; knowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of childcare and development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred degree in Child Development or Early Child Development.
SiteSupervisor Permit required.
Three semester units in the care and development of infants is required for those who work with infants and toddlers.
Must be in good physical health as verified by a current health screening, including a test for Tuberculosis performed under the supervision of a physician not more than 60 days prior to employment.
Proof of up-to-date immunization records to include but not limited to Measles, Pertussis, Tuberculosis (every 4 years) and Influenza (annually).
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, criminal record, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance and Child Abuse Central Index Check prior to employment.
Must possess California Driver's License and meet minimum insurance requirements for personal vehicle and have a driving record which meets the standards set forth in Administrative Regulation 4532 and 4533. If current auto insurance has a “Business Use Exclusion” it will need to be removed from your policy.
Current Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certificate from an approved vendor required.
Completion of Mandated Reporter Training as per Assembly Bill 1207. Must be completed every 2 years.
Completion of Community Care Licensing Child Care Orientation and Record Keeping Training.
8 hours of Health and Safety Training to include Lead Training.

What You'll Do
Program Administration
Work in partnership with the other Bayview SiteSupervisor (Preschool/PreK lead) to oversee the operations and team development for the BV infant toddler preschool program.
Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Center.
Coordinate and monitor volunteers and interns.
Monitor staff schedules, time sheets, vacation, and leave time.
Monitor and approve ordering of supplies and materials.
Maintain and update necessary documentation for all the children and families at the Center.
Ensure program staffing needs, including recruitment and hiring, are met in collaboration with the partner preschool SiteSupervisor at Bayview and the Senior Director of Child Development.
Responsible for monitoring and following through on required assessments and screenings (e.g. ITERS, ECERS, DRDP's, ASQ's, CLASS).
Maintain positive relationships with parents/guardians and children, and meet their cultural and linguistic needs.
Work to address parent/guardian issues when difficulties arise.
Helps plan and coordinate Infant Toddler Lead Teacher meetings to address Center goals and issues.
Work effectively and appropriately with other FACES employees and programs (e.g. fiscal, enrollment, family support).
Work in partnership with other organizations, consultants, and professionals.
Interview incoming family members upon enrollment, provide introductions to Center staff, and orientation to Center policies and procedures.
Responsible for meeting Community Care Licensing requirements, federal, local, and CDC guidelines and regulations (include title 5 and Title 22).
Adjust schedules to meet Center needs with as much flexibility as possible.
Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times and serve as a model to staff and interns.
Other duties as assigned.
Program Development
Build teamwork and facilitate a cooperative environment with all staff, including Family Support and Wellness, the Inclusion team, and Basecamp.
Work with staff to identify and address exceptional needs of children.
Monitor and assist in developing, planning, and implementing Infant & Toddler classroom environments and curricular standards.
Attend required meetings and training for continuous professional development for professional and program improvement.
Responsible for supervising, training, and evaluating infant toddler staff.
Responsible for supervising all children's safety at the Center.
Qualifications
You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:
Hold or qualify for the California Child Development SiteSupervisor permit
Completed 6-12 units that cover infant toddler growth and development & curriculum
Three plus years managing a child development center
Three years plus years managing staff
Strong organizational and conflict management skills
Five years classroom experience in ECE setting.
Experience with state or federally funded child care programs preferred.
Able to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to meet required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)

The SiteSupervisors (1 per building) are responsible for day to day coordination of all after school programming at their school.
The SiteSupervisors will work directly with Building Administrators to ensure effective communication and collaboration is happening at each school.
SiteSupervisors will oversee student attendance and discipline at the site during program hours.
SiteSupervisors will supervise the Team Leaders (5 per site).
The SiteSupervisors will be paid to be on site 3:30-7 or 7:30 Monday-Thursday during the 14 hours of programming each week and 3 hours of preparation time to guide Team Leaders in their daily plans, logistics, and needs.
SiteSupervisors will also use additional hours outside the program time to fulfill management components of the program- timecard approval, scheduling for employee absences, communication with building principal at his/her convenience, and other administrative tasks necessary to successfully implement the program.
