Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:

7. Demonstrates a high degree of ethical behavior and adheres to the standards and regulations of the University and legal environment.
8. Participate in problem oriented policing efforts by identifying problem areas, recommending, and implementing solutions, and monitoring the results.
9. Handle hostage negotiations; performs suicide prevention interventions; transports mentally ill patients.
10. Perform a variety of general and specialized criminal investigations involving property and persons crimes; gathers evidence; preserves crime scene; prepares cases for prosecution.
11. Provide training on gang-related issues, firearms, defensive driving, defensive tactics and other related police topics.
12. Write and execute search warrants.
13. Serve court orders (e.g., subpoenas), arrest warrants, and mental health orders.
14. Appear in court as a State witness and delivers testimony.
15. Provide police services at various special events on Grand Canyon University owned properties.
16. Present public relations programs to campus groups; present other programs and participate in community functions.
17. Participate in required training courses and programs.
18. Operate standard weapons (handgun, etc.) to enforce law, detain a subject, or protect the life of self or others in situations that justify the use of force or deadly force. Clean and inspect weapon(s) and participates in firearms training.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Used and Responsibility
Knowledge of federal and state procedures regarding criminal evidence and investigations.
Knowledge of federal and state statutes, City codes and ordinances, and departmental/university policies and operating procedures in order to enforce laws and determine appropriate charges.
MS Office Suite, specifically MS Word.
Security related systems such as surveillance cameras, license plate readers (LPR), access control, records management, alarms, etc.

Experience/ Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree from an accredited college/university in criminal justice, police science, public administration, political science, or similar discipline is preferred.
5 Years' experience as AZ post certified peace officer; active within last 3 years. (At the discretion of the Chief, years of service can be waived.)
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have valid Arizona Driver's License and be insurable
Ability to obtain and maintain ACJIS Terminal Operator's Certification
Must continuously meet all requirements and standards of AZ POST
Receipt of satisfactory results of a psychological screening to determine job suitability conducted and interpreted by a licensed psychologist.
Satisfactory completion of a medical examination, including a drug screen.
Satisfactory completion of a polygraph exam.
Satisfactory completion of a physical fitness evaluation, firearms proficiency, defensive driving proficiency and waiver exam, if required by AZ POST
Must successfully pass a background investigation.
Must be able to work overtime, work rotating shifts, four 10-hour days per week, work special duty events, holidays, weekends and be called in while off duty for a crisis on campus as needed.

Job Description:
The Office of University Rights and Responsibilities (OURR) is responsible for investigating potential violations of University policy and/or law regarding discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other serious misconduct warranting the involvement of specialized investigative staff.
The Intake Case Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for individuals reporting alleged violations of ASU policies investigated by OURR and with individuals seeking to communicate with the OURR Director, Assistant Director, or Case Management Specialists. The Intake Case Specialist also communicates with potential witnesses or custodians of records to obtain relevant information to be used in investigations and manages new matters until they are assigned to one of the Case Management Specialists. The Intake Case Specialist will interact regularly with University administrators, directors, managers, supervisors, faculty, staff, students, and non-ASU affiliated individuals.
Essential duties:
Provides initial intake screening of all potential complaints.
Differentiates between complaints and inquiries that are within the scope of OURR's investigative responsibility and those that should be referred to another University process.
Refers complaints and inquiries that are not within the scope of OURR's investigative responsibility to the appropriate University process in a timely manner.
Recognizes matters within the scope of OURR's investigative responsibility in which immediate action or referrals to other university units are needed and timely communicates with appropriate individuals within and outside of OURR regarding those situations.
Takes accurate initial statements in writing or through interviews and collects evidence offered from complainants, third-party reporters, and witnesses at the early stages of intake and investigation.
Creates initial case cards, with relevant documents and materials, for use by Case Management Specialists who will complete an investigation.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about ensuring the safety of others. The Event Safety Specialist is responsible for patrolling the campus grounds during campus events to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, employees, guests, visitors, event attendees and/or members of the public.
Must have ability to work on occasional basis which may include daytime, evening and weekend hours.
Pay rate: $15.50
What you will do:
Provides enthusiastic, first-class customer service to all guests.
Patrol premises as a measure to preserve order and protect property and serve as a visible deterrence by circulating among visitors, patrons, attendees, or employees.
Monitors and authorizes access to facilities and events for guests, stage personnel, event(s) staff, employees, which enforces the venue's rules and regulations at all times.
Conducts screening and baggage checks, as established in policy, to ensure a safe environment.
Responds to alarms and investigates disturbances.
Assists Public Safety officers with the collection of personal information for individuals involved with incidents which require a written report (i.e. CLERY, FERPA, TITLE IX and VAWA compliance).
What you need:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Certifications in CPR, First Aid and First Responder - preferred.
Professional appearance and demeanor with ability to interact positively with staff, guests, visitors and members of the public.
Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays depending on scheduled events.
Must successfully pass a drug test.

Counsels new and continuing non degree students regarding University policy and procedures, registration, course requirements and payment options.
Collects all required paperwork and documents for registration and selected payment options.
Academic and financial clearance is required prior to each course start date to include complete and accurate documents required to support a student's individual method of payment option.
Academically clears all admissions and academic compliance policy and procedures required prior to each course start date.
Works with students to ensure understanding of the registration process and/or the steps to modify registration prior to the course commencing.
Resolves any outstanding matters for students via multiple University departments, which may include the Office of Academic Records, Classroom Operations, the Colleges or others as required.
Adheres to all University, state and federal guidelines and policies.
Ensures students' accounts are accurate and in good standing with plans in place if necessary. Collects and reviews required University payment option documents for accuracy. Maintains accounts to include balance resolution and accounts receivable collection and processing modifications through duration of program.
Understands the operating procedures of other departments and incorporates those elements into daily workflow.
Serves as a student advocate to navigate through university policy and procedure
Follows all policies, procedures and compliance guidelines
Works closely with cross functional and support departments to update student information and to resolve student issues
Regularly monitors student activity, GPA, and other components for academic progress
Consistently meets deadlines and performance expectations set by University Leadership team
Understands and learns all software programs/systems to effectively assistant students
Qualifies prospective students and accurately enters prospect's contact information into the appropriate system
