JOB SUMMARY: The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with Beacon Program Director to support the program with partnerships. The outreach coordinator is responsible for:
Bringing in partnerships to Beacon program
Connecting the Lower East Side Community with programs at Beacon
Act as a liaison between the Beacon program and outside organizations
Correspond to emails and phone calls in regards to partnerships
Organize meetings, events, and seek out opportunities to make our organization's presence known
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT:
High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Two years or more experience in the field of youth development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent documentation skills
Facility to motivate others toward achieving goals
Ability to develop alliances with high risk and difficult to engage youth and families
Knowledge of community resources and counseling practices with high-risk populations
Outstanding collaborative skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with Beacon program team and community providers to conduct community outreach and promote the program
Collaborate with hospitals, clinics and community service provides to engage families in community events
Create and maintain a thorough written record of assessments, outreach efforts and all required documentation
Work collaboratively with community resources to establish timely and effective referral processes
Introduce and lead parent workshops that promote academic, social, and emotional development of both parents and students
Work collaboratively with community resources and advocate for families when necessary
Refer participants to a social worker for counseling to support with crisis intervention and safety planning
Perform other duties as assigned by the Beacon Program Director

SCHEDULE: Program Hours: Monday-Friday, 3:30pm - 7pm, some Saturdays may be required. Candidates are expected to work a 3.5hr shift within program hours, with exact working schedules varying based on program needs.
JOB SUMMARY: An activity specialist will assist in promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all elementary, middle and/or high school youths at Grand Street Settlement. An activity specialist will also provide competent supervision, develop and facilitate curriculum/activities such as STEM, health and wellness, sports coaching, violence prevention, performing arts and literacy.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required, some college or college degree preferred
At least 1 year of youth development related experience that must include development of lesson plans, facilitation of classroom activities and classroom management.
Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification through recognized accrediting body preferred
An ideal candidate must have the ability to build rapport with youths and create a positive, inclusive environment.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, SEL, 3 Reference Checks, Physical w/updated TB test
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create a culture of positive group cohesiveness and problem solve directly with youth in groups.
Provide competent supervision of a group of children and participate in activities and trips; provide and maintain a safe and professional working environment.
Design and implement project-based curriculum and facilitate activities based on the given themes.
Work collaboratively with co-workers and cultivate a culture of professionalism and act as a role model for youth participants.
Come ready to work with a positive attitude and provide support and encouragement to youths.
Attend professional developments and training as assigned by supervisors.
Know and follow daily schedules, protocols and procedures, safety drills and safety plans.
Maintain adequate supplies in first aid and safety kits on a daily basis.
Responsible for documenting incidents and communicating incidents with supervisors and/or parents and guardians.
Coordinate community relations efforts and participate in outreach activities.
Assist in the planning, organization and execution of community events.
Maintain accurate records of youth participation, progress and other relevant information.
Clean, organize and maintain workspace and shared spaces throughout the facility.
Other assignments as required by the site director, evening supervisor or evening coordinator.

Qualifications

Job Summary
The Junior Director manages the development and implementation of BCNY's youth development program for boys, ages 10-12. They oversee an annual budget that sustains a programmatic focus on leadership, character, life-skills, and healthy living, and provides opportunities for youth to build knowledge, skills, and values in a meaningful and fun context through evidence-based curriculum and lesson plans. The Junior Director hires and supervises frontline staff and volunteers, and works closely with the Assistant Clubhouse Director and program development staff to create effective programs.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of age-specific programs and activities for boys ages 10-12, including life skills, recreation, character development, and healthy living. This includes planning, organizing, ensuring successful implementation, and data collection.
Plan and conduct creative activities that provide members decision-making and leadership opportunities
Organize and maintain the junior room program area to foster physical and emotional safety, encourage creativity, and meet member needs.
Oversee the staffing and management of all part-time staff and volunteers, including staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, and coaching
Manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and providing coverage as needed
Lead professional development, staff meetings, and trainings for part-time staff as needed
Create a positive work atmosphere that fosters teamwork and a constructive exchange of ideas
Ensure that all staff members adhere to behavior, discipline, and safety policies
Work with the Assistant Clubhouse Director to establish and enforce behavioral expectations and procedures for maintaining order
Work with Assistant Clubhouse Director to organize select special events in the clubhouse and monitor staff and member participation and engagement
Participate in all Clubhouse events including staff meetings, special events, and parent meetings
Build strong relationships with members and families and work to ensure that individual needs (academic, emotional, social, physical) are met through the appropriate connection or coordination of programs and services.
Collaborate with colleagues and other departments as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training
Must complete 15 hours of trainings as per school- age childcare requirements within the first three months of hire and attend two mandatory agency-wide Professional Development trainings
Supervise Participants
Problem solve and intervene directly with youth in groups
Maintain adequate staff to participant supervision during all activities and trips
Facilitate After School Activities
Design and implement unit-based curriculums
Must facilitate group management and activities based on daily activities
Work collaboratively with co-workers
Know and follow daily in-house, school pick up, trip schedules and procedures
Create a group culture of positivity, cohesiveness, and respect
Ensure Safety
Must be able to supervise a group of children and participate in activities and trips; provide and maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain adequate supplies in first aid and safety kits
Maintain medical and emergency contact information for each participant
Responsible for maintaining daily log of all incidents/ injuries
Prepare attendance reports and other reports as required
Know and adhere to all regulations and procedures outlined in safety plan
Other
Communicate regularly and appropriately with parents, teachers, and administration
Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely fashion
Come ready to work with a positive attitude and ability to take initiative
Supervise and evaluate youth staff or leaders
Other assignments as required

REPORTS TO: Center Director
SALARY: $18.37 per hour
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 10am - 1pm, 11am - 2pm. Schedule may vary due to program needs.
JOB SUMMARY: This position serves as a Substitute coverage in the classroom and kitchen as needed. Substitutes support the Lead Teacher in planning and supervising school children according to DOE policies, Head Start Performance Standards and DOHMH Article 47 regulations to implement classroom activities, work cooperatively, and support all program staff and with the general maintenance of the classroom to ensure the health and safety of the children in the program. Substitutes are placed in the kitchen under the supervision of a cook certified with Food Handlers Certificate License to help prepare and deliver meals.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalence, some college credits preferred
Experience working with young children
Ability to work with children and families with special developmental, social or cultural needs
Ability to interpret documents such as safety regulations, policies and procedures
Ability to foster and maintain positive, professional relationships with staff and participants
PRE- EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Clearance through DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry clearance, 3 reference checks, physical examination with updated TB test, varicella, Tdap, MMR (fees may apply)
Obtain Mandated Reporter training certificate (every 2 years) and comply with agency's policy and procedure regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect
Obtain First Aid/CPR and Preventive Infectious Diseases certificate within the first year of employment.
Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start Performance Standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Substitute shall be responsible for:
Assisting in the maintenance of a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with Department of Health and Head Start requirements
Assisting and supporting staff in the planning and implementation of programming that takes into account the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and language developmental and health needs of the individual child as well as the group
Working cooperatively with the teacher and coordinator to ensure the children's goals and objectives are met
Maintaining confidentiality of family records, written and verbal information, including child behavior and parent communication
Notifying the Lead Teacher of any concerns or observations of child health and behavior
Participating in ongoing observation of children's health, behavior and development in keeping with identified Early Head Start and Grand Street Settlement policies and practices.
Consulting with teacher prior to communicating information about individual children to parents
Supporting kitchen coverage as needed, adhering to all health and safety requirements
Participating in appropriate training and meetings as assigned
Being able to lift up to 35 pounds
Flexible schedule to cover for staff as needed
Other duties and special projects as required
