Job Title: Superintendent Department: Operations
Setterlin Building Company is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead and coordinate field operations for commercial construction projects throughout Central and Southern Ohio. This role is responsible for managing daily jobsite activities, safety, quality, scheduling, and coordination to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all onsite construction activities from mobilization through final completion
Serve as the primary onsite representative for Setterlin
Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and material deliveries
Enforce safety policies and OSHA compliance; conduct toolbox talks and job hazard analyses
Monitor daily progress and collaborate with the Project Manager to maintain schedules
Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily logs, RFIs, field orders, and drawings
Perform quality inspections and ensure work meets plans, specifications, and contract requirements
Assist with project closeout, punch lists, inspections, and owner training
Support cost control efforts including labor tracking, timesheets, and material usage
Qualifications
3-7+ years of experience in a Superintendent or field leadership role
Strong understanding of commercial construction methods and sequencing
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
Experience with Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB) is a plus
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders/scaffolding, and operate equipment
Willingness to travel between project sites throughout Central and Southern Ohio

Your key responsibilities
Resource Management: Plan and supervise Assistant Superintendent (on larger projects) and/or craft activities such as, determining method of construction, workforce levels, material quantities equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documenting actual hours worked. Maintain liaison with other departments such as Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, support craft activities and project schedule.
Project Planning and Strategy: Coordinate assigned work with the work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
Risk Management: Assist the Labor Relations Department in maintaining communications with unions, resolving jurisdictional disputes, requisitioning required workforce, and as necessary the labor approach for the projects assigned. Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Team Leadership: Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Experience assisting in resolving construction problems such as lack of productivity and work interfaces is required.
Overall, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects that drive significant growth and innovation within the organization and serve our client's needs.
Qualifications
To qualify for the role, you must have
Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures required.
Strong Electrical background in Data Centers' experience is preferred.
Titles by discipline may include, Construction Superintendent (for civil work), Structural Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, or Electrical Superintendent.
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control and demonstrated ability to control and supervise large groups.
Prior experience with Commercial or Industrial project scopes of at least $15M value.
A valid driver's license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70+%.
