General Summary This position is responsible for management and implementation of all Dispatch processes for the location including supervising and coordinating labor, equipment, materials, trucking and rentals for all construction projects in the field to ensure project appropriate resources are allocated efficiently. Essential Job Accountabilities Manage the Dispatch function for the assigned business unit including implementing new processes and procedures to ensure efficiency. Advise location management on planning job schedules and haul routes to anticipate project needs to ensure timely delivery of resources to the job. Negotiate purchasing terms with various vendors to ensure Granite receives the best possible pricing for rentals or other materials needed. Supervise the work of other Truck Drivers and/or Dispatchers (including timesheets, hiring and firing,) to ensure resources are allocated appropriately and cost effectively. Coordinate project resource needs based on to ensure project schedule goals are met. Coordinate with the HR department, payroll and craft unions to maintain regulations that the union has established to ensure compliance. Manage computerized dispatch and distribute on a daily basis a complete, accurate daily labor and material order in HCSS to communicate resource and scheduling with team. Understand and know contract requirements when it comes to ordering job resources,(DBE, listed companies or special Tier compliant equipment). Responsible for fleet compliance of all region CMV Drivers (DOT compliance). Hold monthly driver meetings, Take 5's and Safety meetings. Education High School Diploma required Work Experience 5+ years dispatch experience required. Knowledge, skills, and abilities Exceptional organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities * Providing project support during proposal/bid, design, and construction phases, working to identify and evaluate innovative and cost efficient designs for rock and ground support. Projects will include but not be limited to underground shafts, tunnels, caverns, adits, portals, as well as rock slopes for roadways, dams, and other infrastructure projects. * Identify key geotechnical and geological risks and develop plans to mitigate these risks. * Serve as Geotechnical Engineer of Record for delegated construction phase designs and design-build projects, responsible for recommendations and deliverables for initial and final ground support systems, earth and rock loads, modeling potential failure mechanisms and deformations, and requirements for grouting and/or ground improvement. * Perform field work including inspections, rock mapping and characterization, assessment of ground classes for applicable support measures. * Support aspects of geotechnical design including groundwater inflow and mitigation, design of ground improvements, design management, and interdisciplinary coordination. * Support efforts to capture and share lessons learned throughout Kiewit Districts. * Training and developing staff engineers, inspectors, and other professionals. Qualifications * Minimum 15 years of progressive geotechnical, rock mechanics, mining, and/or geological engineering design experience with focus on design of shafts, tunnels, portals, adits, and caverns. * Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Geotechnical, Geological, or Mining Engineering or closely related field, required; Master's degree preferred. * Require a Professional Engineer in the U.S, plus ability to be licensed in multiple states through reciprocity. * Ground assessment and support design experience including collection and interpretation of field and lab data, design of support systems, rock mechanics and kinematic analyses, and numerical modeling of ground conditions for assessing ground movements and loads. * Experience with inspections, determining the need support measures, familiarity with installation and QC testing procedures, and instrumentation and monitoring. * Experience with assessing groundwater inflows is a plus, as well as design of grouting or ground improvements for reducing inflows and/or improving the ground stability. * Experience preparing design and construction documents including technical memoranda, design reports, geotechnical baseline reports, drawings, and specifications. * Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, with a focus on interdisciplinary coordination, coordination between Engineering and Construction, experience working in a team setting, and directing/reviewing the work of others. * Ability to travel to project sites and the physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions. #LI-MD1 Working Conditions Other Requirements: * Regular, reliable attendance * Work productively and meet deadlines timely * Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment * Perform work safely and effectively.
