General Summary
This position is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining profitable, efficient, safe, and environmentally compliant Construction Materials operations.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Plan, direct and supervise plant workers associated with the mining, processing, stockpiling, loading and distribution of aggregates, or related construction materials, to ensure optimum long-term profitability.
Estimate cost of materials including accurately reading plan specifications to ensure precision in internal and/or external quotes.
Determine manpower levels, inventory quantities, equipment, and work schedules to ensure plant is optimally ran.
Develop and manage P&L budgets for material operations to ensure corporate financial goals are achieved.
Perform weekly safety meetings with employees to ensure corporate safety standards are maintained.
Analyze material production and cost reports to ensure production and financial goals are met.
Administer maintenance, repair, and management of all plant equipment for assigned facilities in accordance with Corporate Equipment Standards, Policies and Procedures.
Compare costs and best value of plant equipment repair including contracting outside vendors, using in-house labor or equipment replacements to ensure the most cost effective choices are made.
Develop and maintain relationships with owners, the local community, local unions and other representatives to promote Granite's long-term interests.
Coordinate work requirements with equipment and construction departments to ensure project timelines are met.
Manage, mentor and train the plant staff to ensure we attract, develop and retain the very best talent in the industry. This includes but is not limited to, staffing, compensation and performance management.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management or equivalent work experience preferred
Work Experience
5+ years work experience in a construction materials environment
2+ years management experience
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Proven knowledge of the construction materials business and experience in hot mix asphalt and aggregate plants.
Mechanical knowledge of construction material processing plants and heavy equipment preferred.
Ability to accurately assess the current financial status and forecast the monthly, quarterly, yearly and final results of materials operations.
Strong consultative and communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels of management.
Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projects.
Sound decision-making ability with the experience to balance consensus against authority as appropriate.
Team player, with strong leadership skills, who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges.

Thorough knowledge of union jurisdiction and labor agreements as applicable to the materials business.

Job Summary

Job Summary
Position is responsible for ensuring the quality of fabricated steel by reviewing design documents, inspecting materials, overseeing production, and conducting final inspections. 8. Sets up and maintains standard project files: general correspondence/filing, subcontractor/ purchase order agreements, vendor files, time sheets, and Prolog Company set-up files.
9. Sets up, maintains, and ensures full compliance of Bulletin Board postings with federal, state, and government agencies, and local and Sundt posters and policies.
10. Types and distributes project correspondence and coordinates all project payables and receivables with Accounting Department and may maintain and reconcile jobsite petty cash and other accounts, as required.

1. Champions the orderly, timely transition of projects from the estimating phase to the field. This transition shall include project review meetings, which encompass a review of contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase order agreements.
2. Completes close?out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner. Manages warranty callbacks quickly to maintain owner/client relationships.
3. Coordinates with the Project Superintendent the means and methods required for the successful and profitable execution of the work. Reviews and monitors manpower, equipment, and material resources to accomplish this goal.
4. Establishes the project charter and a comprehensive project management plan (PMP) including the project scope management plan, procurement plan, environmental plan, time management plan, financial plan, quality management and safety plans and risk management plan to ensure successful project execution. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the change management process.
5. Has overall responsibility for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction as well as responsibility for personnel decisions that impact the project. Plans, acquires, reviews, develops and manages the project
6. Manages all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection of payments from the owner in order to maintain a positive cash flow position. Manages the overall payment process and follows all prompt pay laws with the subcontractors.
7. Manages the development of the overall CPM schedule and assures coordination with the Project Superintendent and the procurement schedule with the Project Engineer. Ensures that as many levels of detailed schedules are prepared and distributed as required to support the project schedule. Pays special attention to prevention and documentation of delays or changes. Ensures that the Lean process is effectively utilized for all scheduling activities.
8. Participates in preparation and review of estimates with attention to the following: adherence to cost control system, equipment requirements and utilization, constructability, formwork, materials, manpower, general conditions, schedule, insurance, etc.
9. Participates in the business development process including client contacts, relationships, proposals, presentations, and negotiations for selected projects.
10. Prevents claims, identify potential claims, quantify, mitigate/resolve the effects of those that do occur on a timely basis.
11. Responsible for the preparation of Monthly Progress Report including accurate cost projections.
12. Responsible for the timely preparation and execution of purchase order agreements and subcontracts with respect to insurance certificates, bonds, and the appropriate lien waivers.
13. Responsible for understanding and administering prime contract terms and conditions, contract documents, subcontract agreements, purchase order agreements, insurance, etc. Oversees and ensures all the processes involved in budgeting and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget. Demonstrates business acumen within area of responsibility.
14. Reviews, negotiates, and executes all change orders, supplements, and cost control budget adjustments.

General Summary
The Plant Mechanic is responsible for the safe repair and maintenance of equipment found in a high production aggregate production facility. Work Experience
Experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
2-4 years of aggregate plant repair and maintenance experience, preferred.
Experience working in an MSHA environment, preferred.

Ability to wear a full body harness and work at heights while tied off.

Electrical and Instrumentation Inspection: Experience must fall in the installation of electrical and instrumentation components, including interconnecting wiring, cables, and tubing. Must be knowledgeable of ICEA, IEEE, ISA, NEC, NEMA, NESC, and NFPA Codes and standards.
Mechanical Inspection: Experience level must fall in the setting and alignment of static and rotating equipment, equipment skids, coolers, tanks, and interconnecting process piping fabrication and installation. Must be able to use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, transits, etc. and be able to set up dial indicators and laser alignment devices.
Piping Inspection: Experience level must fall in pipe installation inspection, including welding, supports, instrumentation, etc. Must have CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assists material handling personnel with required material storage and PM requirements as needed.
2. Communicates with others regarding inspections results and recommends corrective procedures.
3. Participates in activities to support the company's strategic planning efforts.
4. Participates in the preparation of Quality control ITP.
5. Performs control measuring and tests equipment.
6. Responsible for Welder Performance Qualification Testing.
7. Verifies the installation of the systems, components and equipment in accordance with the assigned discipline.
Minimum Job Requirements
1. 2+ years construction practices
2. 5+ years in quality control inspection discipline
3. HS Degree Required
4. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs
