Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for an Accounting Manager to work under the direction of the Controller. The Accounting Manager directs and coordinates the daily activities of the grants accountants. Ensures prompt and accurate recording of revenues and expenses of the various grants and contracts. The incumbent will ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions and with applicable government regulations.
Responsibilities:
Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.Coaches and counsels staff and administers appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.Ensures prompt preparation and submission of invoices and collection of grants receivables.Ensures prompt preparation and submission of monthly grant financial reports to program directors and managers. Maintains files of all grants, contracts, notice of grant awards, revisions to grants, and other related documents. Manages all activities relating to grants and contracts including supervision of grant accountants. Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.Prepares monthly federal funds draws including preparation of documentation/schedule supporting wire draw. Prepares quarterly Federal Financial Report (FFR). Prepares the annual BPHC Single Grant Application and RW Part C Cost Report and Application.Provides grants budget and information for the annual corporate budget. Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.Reviews monthly salary allocation, fringe benefit charges, indirect cost calculation and revenue recognition of grant accounts. Reviews utilization of grant funds and ensures compliance with grant requirements and government regulations. The Opportunity

The Grants Manager of KIPP Texas Public Schools will be responsible for (1) writing and submitting grant applications to current and lapsed supporters; (2) writing interim and final reports to funders, and (3) researching new corporate and foundation prospects. The Grants Manager will assist with grant management to ensure that grants goals are achieved. The Grants Manager will also assist the Development team by supporting fundraising and donor cultivation events and providing support when needed. This role furthers the mission of KIPP Texas Public Schools by helping seek financial donations that provide funding to offset KIPP's annual operating budget and position KIPP Texas Public Schools for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of KIPP Texas Public Schools in order to effectively articulate our mission, vision, and impact to current and prospective donors and funding agencies.

Manage a portfolio of donors, funding agencies, and prospects using a moves management system to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and build relationships with donors and prospects. Based on the needs of the region, this may include stewardship opportunities.

Maintain proactive working relationships with other internal departments, and, in the event that problems arise with grants, lead troubleshooting efforts and bring in relevant team members to assist with solutions.

Lead project management of grants though their full life cycle and serve as organizational subject matter expert.

Manage fiscal compliance; working closely with finance team and program budget managers regarding grant restrictions, expense tracking and spending, and documentation.

Adhere to grant timeline and calendar to ensure grant compliance and to maximize funding opportunities. The Grants Manager supports the administration and management of the ECI grants portfolio pre and post award. This position will participate in all aspects of grant administration to ensure the smooth implementation of grants pre and post award. This position is responsible for the grant application process and the monthly monitoring for progress across fiscal, compliance, programmatic deliverables, and operational aspects of grants. The Grants Manager will execute complex duties with a high degree of independence.
Primary Responsibilities
For grant applications - pre-award
1. Gathers information for proposals including organizational capacity, statistical and qualitative data, potential sources of funds, partners and staff and other information to support the grant proposal idea.2. Maintains strong working knowledge of organization priorities, convenes and facilitates meetings with key stakeholders for concept development on priority topic areas, coordinates resources for proposal development under the direction of the ECI Program Director.3. Prepares early drafts of grants and budgets and facilitates meetings with senior leadership for grant and budget review and comment.4. Prepares the final grant submission, including the budget, narrative and required forms and attachments. Submits grant proposal into all major systems.


Post award

1. As directed by the ECI Program Director, trains and coaches program managers and team leaders as needed on how to effectively manage grants.
2. Develops and maintains dashboards, databases and files to house information on grant status and trends, deliverables and reporting schedules to facilitate project management and communication.
3. Develops and assembles programmatic and financial information for the annual reports.
4. Develops and assembles needs assessment information annually for use in grants to support ECI’s strategic priorities.
5. Participates in the development of policies, procedures, tools, and communications for grants administration and trains staff as needed.
6. Participates in communications, planning, and analysis on the grants portfolio for ECI as needed.
7. Researches and identifies additional funding opportunities to support expanded services for children with disabilities and increased professional development opportunities for staff.

Work Experience
3 years of experience in the development, implementation or evaluation of business development plans; applicable coursework may be substituted. Working knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding fiscal management or early childhood intervention programs preferred. Strong project management and communication skills required with the ability to frame complex situations and present options. Ability to exercise independent judgment to plan and prioritize a diverse workload and manage and track multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Education/Certifications/Licensure
BS/BA in a field related to administration, finance or human services is required. Master's Degree in management, finance, accounting, public administration, or other related field is preferred.
