The Research Grant Specialist works with principal investigator to complete and submit federal and non- federal grants and serves as the liaison between department or research groups and sponsored research funds administration, accounting, and finance departments. This role generally performs all Pre- and Post- award administrative functions, including, but not limited to, ensuring internal documents are prepared and routed for signature and processing, monitoring grant accounts, tracking all expenses, providing grant and financial reconciliation, and research-related financial reporting. Ensures compliance with all internal policies, federal and local agency requirements including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with principal investigator to complete and submit federal and non-federal grants.
Works as the liaison between department or research group and sponsored research funds administration, accounting, and finance departments.
Generally, performs all Pre-and Post- award administrative functions.

Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma is required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Three (3) years of experience in administration of research grants, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s)
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and solid understanding of federal and major funding agency grant submission guidelines.
Experience working with multi-PI proposals.
Experience with preparation of general grant submission components, including the preparation of progress and financial reports.
Experience with preparation of scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
Proficiency with eRA commons, grants.gov, NIH RePORTER, Federal Reporter, and other related proposal submission systems.
Knowledge of expense tracking software required. Knowledge of general accounting and financial analysis required.

Under minimal supervision and guidance, the Mid-Level/Senior Contract & Grant Administrator independently performs moderate to highly complex contract and grant administration activities including proposal submission, and negotiation, execution, and administration of RAND's sponsored research agreements. Employees at this level perform moderate to highly complex work to accomplish business goals and objectives.
Assignments at this level require the use of independent judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations. This position may also provide training and direction over less experienced Contract/Grant Administrators and other support staff.
May perform any or all of the following duties:
Review RFP's/RFQ's for contractual issues and provide input in support of proposal efforts, such as providing advice to RAND research and proposal development staff regarding proposal preparation and interpretation of sponsor requirements.
Draft, coordinate, and execute proposal related non-financial agreements, such as nondisclosure, teaming, and data use agreement.

Department-Specific Responsibilities:
Keeps track of cost-sharing agreements, prepares interdepartmental invoices, and monitors payments.
Performs all Interns and Visitor Program administrative functions, including but not limited to onboarding/termination/renewals of interns/visitor personnel, and processing all necessary documentation.
Performs financial management functions for the department's Mini/Microgrants program, duties include, but are not limited to proposal/purchasing lead, keeping track of individual accounts, expiration and extension dates, account reconciliation.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED is required, but a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
One (1) year of experience in the administration of research grants, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and understanding of Grants, Manuscripts and Abstracts guidelines.
Knowledge of general accounting and financial analysis is required.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related applications required.
Demonstrated ability to create and utilize Excel spreadsheets for budget and data tracking.
Able to handle multiple tasks with short timelines, prioritize work, and complete assignments promptly and accurately.
Ability to work independently, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks requiring attention to detail.

The Operations and Grant Manager (OGM) will be responsible for a region of ASAS-LA sites in the Los Angeles County. Top candidates will be able to use their knowledge of expanded learning, program and budget management, and process development. Preferred applicants will be deadline driven.
Qualifications:

Major Functions
• Responsible for ensuring program excellence and operational integrity for a region of schools/sites
• Responsible for maintaining operational compliance as it pertains to policies and procedures
• Providing supervisory support, guidance, and oversight to Program Coordinators in managing the day-to-day programmatic operational functions of sites
• Reviewing and approving supply orders and managing budgets
• Supporting and guiding a region of schools to fulfill mission-based programing
• Monitoring and tracking student attendance
• Approving payroll in ADP and making any necessary corrections/adjustments prior to payroll closing
• Assessing job performance of Program Coordinators within their region.
• Monitoring site's responsibility of Cityspan completion
• Monitoring the certified assurances to guarantee fulfillment of grant requirements
• Managing and submitting documents needed for internal or external program audits.
• Attending monthly Principal meetings with Program Coordinator to ensure recommendations made at meeting are incorporated into program plan.
• Maintain open communication with Senior Operations and Grant Managers as it relates to developments and occurrences within the region of schools assigned
• Collaborating with the Program Coordinators to maintain a safe and efficient working environment, ensuring operational compliance at all school sites, including incident reporting, alleged sexual harassment and child abuse reporting and claims, and maintaining a 1:20 staff/student ratios, etc.
• Serving as agency liaison for site-based visits conducted by LACOE.
• Attending all required management staff meetings, chapter meetings, school site meetings.
• Traveling to off-site meetings, trainings and events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
