Grants Post-Award Administrator

Kean University has been named a Professional/Doctoral University by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education, reflecting the University's increased number of doctoral programs offered and degrees awarded, and Kean's strong commitment to research. Our recently upgraded status brings us one step closer to being designated as an R2 Research University under the Carnegie Classification and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is in an exciting transition at this time. As we endeavor to reach Carnegie R2 research status, ORSP is being restructured and will be reporting to the Vice President of Research, under the direction of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Grants Post-Award Administrator (Professional Services Specialist III) is responsible for coordinating the post-award aspects of all external funding. Responsibilities include providing the Project Investigator with proper guidance and support; and directly working with University departments including Grants Accounting and the Budget Office to ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, up-to-date and in compliance with University policies and the sponsor's terms and conditions. The Grants Post-Award Administrator will oversee and coordinate multiple departments' funding portfolios, in addition to monitoring and reconciling expenditures to the University's financial system.

As a member of the Research and Sponsored Programs team, this position will be a liaison between the department and central university offices, federal, state, local, corporate agencies and private foundations keeping faculty and the project director abreast of both internal and external policies. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and minimum of two years of successful post-award experience in educational, non-profit or government settings, including significant experience with preparation of budgets and reports is required. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Preferred qualifications include: familiarity with federal and state regulations that pertain to public/private funding sources and higher education; and familiarity with Pivot, Foundation Directory Online and/or other similar funding databases. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills and advanced personal computer and related software skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query, Internet and research administration.
