Position Summary
BB&E is seeking a creative and highly skilled Graphic Artist to join our team to deliver high-quality graphic designs and visual content to the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Caribbean District (South Atlantic Division [SAA]) in Puerto Rico which is responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of Civil Works, Military and Interagency and International Support (IIS) Projects throughout the Caribbean region. The Graphic Artist will work closely with USACE to create visually compelling materials that communicate project goals and support outreach and operational initiatives to support projects in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Development
Produce professional-grade graphic designs for digital and print materials, including but not limited to advertisements, brochures, banners, social media posts, website graphics, logos, infographics, posters, and PowerPoint presentations
Design visual content for technical reports, proposals, and project documentation, ensuring clarity and alignment with project objectives
Develop creative concepts that effectively communicate complex information in a visually engaging manner
Branding & Compliance
Ensure all designs adhere to USACE branding guidelines, including typography, color palettes, logos, and overall style
Regularly update design templates to reflect changes in project requirements or branding standards
Maintain consistency in visual assets across various projects and deliverables
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and communications teams to understand project goals and translate them into compelling visuals
Collaborate with the Outreach Team to design promotional materials for events, community engagement, and stakeholder meetings
Present design concepts and incorporate feedback to refine and enhance deliverables
Motion Graphics & Video Editing
Create motion graphics, animations, or video content for presentations, social media, or promotional campaigns
Edit and optimize video content for clarity, branding, and engagement
Administrative & Organizational Tasks
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and deliverables
Maintain an organized archive of digital and print assets for future use
Stay updated on design trends and tools to enhance creative processes
Key Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
Knowledge and Competencies
Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, composition, and layout
Ability to produce high-quality, error-free designs
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Openness to expanding skill sets, particularly in motion graphics and video editing
Knowledge of cultural sensitivities and norms within the Caribbean region to enhance design relevance and engagement is preferred
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish to enhance collaboration with diverse teams in the Caribbean region is preferred
Software
Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; proficiency in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) is required
Experience with motion graphics, animation, or video editing software such as After Effects or Premiere Pro is preferred
Familiarity with web design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, or similar platforms is preferred
Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience & Education
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field with proven experience producing materials for both print and digital platforms is required; experience with branding and design guidelines for federal agencies (specifically USACE) and background on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands is preferred
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field from an ABET accredited university is required

Requirements and skills
Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field.
Proven graphic designing experience (3-5 years)
Illustration by hand is a great nice to have
A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
Proven experience creating full brand identities from scratch
Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Basic knowledge of graphic printing specs

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications & Skills:
-Proven experience as a Graphic Designer in a printing company or a related industry.

As a Senior Substation Physical Designer, you will be working in a project team environment with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design. Responsibilities will include the preparation of the following substation drawings:
+ Substation General Arrangement
+ Substation Electrical Equipment Plans
+ Substation Section Views (Elevations)
+ Substation Detailed Bill of Material
+ Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan
+ Substation Grounding Plan
+ Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 8 years of substation physical design experience. Qualifications also include the following:
+ An Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
+ Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).
+ Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances.
+ Ability to multi-task from project to project.
+ Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer.
+ Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, and write).
Valued Knowledge/Skills:
+ An Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design.
+ Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design.
+ Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
+ Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design.
