He or she must have full mastery of various software design programs including Adobe-based platforms (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) for both Mac and PC. Job Summary: Swaybox Studios is seeking a Visual Development Artist who can create stylized environment designs to seamlessly translate into 3D sets. The artist will work closely with the production Designer and collaborate with the practical sets team. Must be able to further develop rough concepts by the Production Designer into complete, more detailed designs to be used by the set builders, as well as design original sets, environment details, and props from scratch, based on prompts by the Director and the Production Designer. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Production Designer to translate the vision for the film from concept to finished design. This is done through the use of drawings and paintings (including rough sketches, cleaned up renderings, tonals, sculpture, and digital imagery). Create environment concepts, color keys, lighting studies, mood paintings, and production illustrations. Develop into clear and solid designs concept sketches by the Production Designer. Implement feedback promptly and professionally. Required Qualifications: Strong drawing skills, with a specialization in concept environment design Solid understanding of visual language - texture, color, dimension, scale, perspective, shade, composition, depth of field, proportion, spatial awareness, etc Ability to adapt to a variety of styles. A solid understanding of 2D to 3D translations and hands-on use of 2D or 3D tools in your design process is helpful. Self motivated, good communication skills, and an excellent teammate. Working knowledge of software and hardware including Photoshop and Cintiq. Nice to Have Qualifications: A working knowledge of a 3D modeling software such as Maya or Blender is a plus.
