POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Post and Courier is seeking a highly motivated intern who has a desire to learn a variety of marketing strategies and event planning to help grow The Post and Courier Rock Hill. This is a hands-on position and will provide experience in digital and event marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate promotional opportunities to position The Post and Courier Rock Hill as a leading information source for the region. Opportunities include in-person and virtual events and sponsorships throughout the Rock Hill region.
Conduct e-mail marketing campaigns with the goal of increasing engagement and converting to digital subscriber.
Create engaging graphics that will include print, digital advertising, email marketing and other marketing materials using Canva and other graphic software.
Write copy for print and digital ads, social media, web, collateral and email marketing.
Plan and execute events for subscribers, advertisers and community partners.
Participate and work at events of The Post and Courier Rock Hill or to represent the brand.
Photo organization and management of assets for the marketing department.
Contribute fresh new engaging ideas and be willing to take on new challenges.
Prioritize, manage time and meet multiple deadlines.
Proactively stay ahead of industry best practices and trends through research, networking, training and education.
Work collaboratively across departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintains a weekly journal of activity and attends check-in meetings as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of media studies AND 2+ years of professional experience
OR 4+ years of experience in professional graphicdesign environment(s).

The candidate will demonstrate expertise across all levels of the graphicdesign discipline; especially in print design practices (e.g., typography, magazine layout, poster and super-graphic creation), with a focus in pre-press standards and print production required for producing posters, magazines, books, brochures, and other print media.

Job Description
Types of projects may include website design, print and online advertising, logo design and development, collateral design, event graphicsdesign, and video creation and editing.
The work is a lot of fun, very social, and is an ideal experience for people with entrepreneurial aspirations. We are looking for people who are reliable, have excellent social skills, well organized with great communication and collaboration skills.
Candidates must have graphics experience and be knowledgeable and experienced with technology and comfortable working in a virtual office environment. Interns need to be flexible concerning daily tasks and be able to adapt to rapidly changing projects.
In addition, applicants must be well organized with excellent communication skills, be creative and driven to help make this startup business a success. We are looking for entrepreneurial, highly motivated, and coachable individuals with goals beyond just having a job.

Additional Information
Intern Program
Candidates will spend 2-3 months working on the graphicdesign aspects of our organization.
Required 10-15 hours/week.
Candidates may NOT be required to work between normal hours (9:00AM-5:00PM) except for specific reasons such as a planned meeting.
