You don't have to worry about a pesky social life, because with the continual swing shift it is impossible.
This company will work you until you die, throw you away, and hire someone else to replace you. They refuse to have regular shifts, everything is swing, so you're always tired with an irregular sleep schedule. They are unionized, but the union rep is more interested in sucking up to office personnel than actually helping the workers. They hire supervisors off the street that have never worked at a gpi before and don't learn how each position works, they just yell at everyone and don't actually follow the same rules as the other workers. For example, they will reprimand you for not using the clear, cheap, easily breakable waterbottles they give you while they drink from their stainless steel, non-issued bottle right in front of you. The hypocrisy runs rampant. They give titles and promotions to the lazy workers that suck up, skipping over the loyal employees that have been there for years. They offer an incentive, a signing bonus, but that is also a joke. I received about $100 of the $500 bonus because they lump it in with your regular pay and tax the life out of it. Every year the price for health insurance goes up and the benefits go down. I am hard pressed to find a dr that will take my insurance now.
Paid holidays. The only perk.
Nothing. At all. Worst leadership practices. You cannot hire someone who doesn't know any of the various job responsibilities to boss everyone around about them.
Move to regular shifts and promote from within.
I let my past experience and knowledge speak for itself.
When compared to the horrible work environment it doesn't
Oh, it's diverse. To save money, they hire workers that have a language barrier from other countries. These workers, in my experience, don't understand the directions given and use English not being their first language for an excuse to do the job poorly and not follow directions.
Going home
Constant work flow regular overtime available
Rules for time off and sick days are too strict especially when it comes to family care.
Investment in 401k and ira contributions as well as medical insurance. Available overtime is a plus
Very forthcoming on the advancement and achievements of the company and understanding of the sacrifices we as employees make to benefit the work place
There is slight favoritism especially among ethnic groups through management for advancement aka buddy program that needs to be corrected through seniority.
Mechanical aptitude is needed for press operator and basic understanding of computers is a plus. Understanding of PPE and safe work practices is needed. Especially in manufacturing.
GPI matches union standards for pay scale and provides better insurance costs as well as excellent investment opportunities
The demographic seems to lean in one direction. It would be nice if it was more diverse
