Responsible for all duties related to imaging patient care, file room, general clerical, physician assistance, and other related duties necessary for complete patient outcomes in the outpatient surgery department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Physician/Chief of the Medical Facility/Director of Nursing
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
* Under direction, incumbents may instruct and prepare patients for radiologic examinations;
* Determine the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shield patients appropriately;
* Prepare patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure, removing articles such as jewelry, through which x-rays cannot pass
* Positioning patients so that the correct parts of the body can be radiographed.
* Place the x-ray film under the part of the patient's body to be examined and make the exposure. Then remove the film and develop it.
* Position and operate stationary or portable radiologic machines and take x-rays images of all parts of the human body for the physician to use in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
* Produce x-ray films (radiographs), develop, make copies and fix x-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems.
* Prepare solutions for processing films;
* Assist in fluoroscopic work; under supervision, make clinical photographs of unusual cases and identify photographs;
* Maintain equipment and quarters;
* Monitors patients during the procedure.
* Surround the exposed area with radiation protection devices, such as lead shields, or limit the size of the x-ray beam to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
* Using instruments similar to a measuring tape, measure the thickness of the section to be radiographed and set controls on the machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail and contrast.
* Keep records and files;
* Make reports as needed and other related duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy of the human body; standardized radiologic clinical procedures; thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; the operation and care of modern radiologic equipment; and the ordering and storing of supplies.
Ability to communicate effectively at a level required for successful job performance; administer emergency aid for shock; prepare solution used in processing x-ray film and process film; keep simple records, file film correctly, and compile reports; follow directions; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
EDUCATION: (include any licenses or certifications required)
* High school diploma or the equivalent.
* Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology
* Two years of experience, including training in radiologic techniques and methods, under an accredited medical radiologist. (Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.) or

Under minimal supervision of the Radiologists and the Lead Special Procedures Technologist, the Special Procedures Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic and interventional procedures, (including diagnostic and interventional angiograms and nonvascular interventional procedures throughout the imaging department) transporting patients and providing clinical and clerical support. The Special Procedures Technologist ensures maintenance of equipment by reporting malfunctions and assists in departmental supply acquisition. The Special Procedures Technologist will perform quality angiographic and interventional services at the request of physicians utilizing a wide variety of specialized equipment and machinery. The Special Procedures Technologist will be responsible for the appropriate practice of witnessing and documenting medication waste for the Radiology RNs.
Essential Job Functions
* Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
* Ensures radiological services provided are in compliance with standards established by the institution, state, local and federal agencies.
* Performs quality angiographic and interventional services at the request of physicians.
* Special procedure responsibilities include operating specialized equipment such as power injectors, DSA, angiojet, RITA and knowledge in the uses and handling of catheters, wires, drains, etc. Acts a resource for the physicians regarding all wires and catheters in the department.
* Prepares the angiographic suite for the patient by assuring cleanliness and aseptability of the appropriate areas. Sets up the equipment and sterile tray for cases. Acts as the scrub assistant to the physician. Understands and practices aseptic techniques, sets up and maintains the sterile field as well as all pertinent supplies. Positions the patient and thoroughly explains the procedures as well as alleviating apprehension and promoting cooperation as much as possible. Assists in catheter/wire manipulation, and sets the injector for contrast injection as needed. Is responsible for assessing for allergies and ensuring the informed consent is obtained prior to a procedure.
* Performs all duties of Diagnostic Imaging and Special Procedure Technologists as required in both the hospital and clinic setting, and maintains competency in all areas of the department.
* Informs management or Lead IR Technologist of any unusual concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients and physicians.
* Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies by informing appropriate personnel for acquisition.
* Assures the Special Procedures program is in compliance with regulatory agencies: FDA, ACR, OSHA and NRC by completing appropriate clerical work needed to perform and charge for exams.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.

We are looking for a Radiologic Technologist 1 & 2 to join our team!
Under general supervision, operates radiographic and sonographic equipment utilizing the direction from the ordering provider in a manner that is consistent with department routines and procedures. In doing so, positions patients, adjusts equipment for proper exposure settings, and acquires images following the procedure and facilitates image storage in the PACS system. Also assists physicians in performing examinations by administering/providing contrast media and assisting with procedures as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for adherence to the elements of RMH's Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. * Treats all patients/residents, families, and co-workers as welcomed guests; makes eye contact while communicating with or encountering guests, expresses a positive attitude (e.g., by smiling), greets all customers and co-workers, and introduces self as appropriate.
Ensures radiological services provided are in compliance with standards established by RMH, local, state and federal agencies.
* Performs quality exams using the appropriate department routine as ordered and be able to perform those examinations using all the general radiographic equipment.
* Prepares the room, equipment and supplies as dictated by the particular examination or patient need and processes the necessary radiographs.
* Prepares the patient for the examination by ensuring the patient is attired properly, explains the examination to the patient and transfers and positions the patient as needed. Demonstrates awareness of radiation safety for patients, self, and co-workers in particular by using appropriate shielding for patients. Assists the patient at the end of the examination.
* Informs Manager of any unusual concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff, patients and physicians. Assists with stocking and cleaning radiology rooms daily. Maintains adequate inventory of all required supplies by appropriately utilizing supply management software/hardware and/or informing appropriate personnel for acquisition.
* Performs a variety of clerical and image management tasks, as required, such as working up patients, completing the appropriate paperwork following each examination, and properly identifies exams for PACS storage and review.
* Coordinates scheduling, transportation and scanning of patients.
* Analyzes sonograms, medical history, and utilizes independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Prepares preliminary reports and/or checklist for the interpreting physician. Reviews exam with the interpreting physician as requested. Communicates with attending and referring physicians as appropriate.
* Works collaboratively to maintain an organized and effective radiology department for all. Including but not limited to; cleaning equipment, ensuring a clean and comfortable patient care areas, stocking supplies, organizing work-station area, etc.
* General Duties for Radiology Department Staff
* Identifies need and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
* Is responsible for taking an active role in the mentoring of the student technologist staff.
* Acts properly, is present except for allowed time off, arrives on time, and follows RMH policies and procedures.
* Performs all other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
MINIMUIM QUALIFICATIONS
* Graduate of a recognized approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in Radiological Technology.
* Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or board eligible (must achieve ARRT credential within six months of employment)
* Current Montana license as a Radiology Technologist.
* CPR/BLS Certification for health care providers

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic mammography procedures, transporting patients and providing clinical clerical support.
Essential Job Functions
* Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
* Maintains equipment by reporting malfunctions and assists in departmental supply acquisition. Mammography procedure responsibilities include operating mammography equipment.
* Performs quality mammography services at the request of physicians, according to guidelines established by the American Cancer Society, American College of Radiology, HCFA, OSHA and FDA.
* Prepares the mammography suite for the patient by assuring cleanliness and acceptability of appropriate areas and setting up the equipment for special cases. Positions the patient and thoroughly explains the procedure as well as alleviating apprehension and promoting cooperation as much as possible.
* Informs management or Lead Mammography Technologist of any unusual concerns, situation or conditions relative to staff, patients and physicians.

Radiologic Technologist w/ CT Training
Description - Coordinates and performs the diagnostic radiographic and computed tomography procedures on patients, according to provider/physician orders. Performs proper x-ray exposure to aid in the diagnosis of fractures, diseases, and other injuries. Performs CT examinations with knowledgeable operation of the scanner and scan protocols. The technologist must prepare and position patients for the x-ray or CT examination and take the appropriate images. The technologist also must process imaging plates, inspect, maintain, and make minor repairs to the x-ray and CT equipment.
