    We are seeking Oilers for our hydraulic dredge and support boats near the Gulf Coast. An Oiler oils and greases marine equipment such as diesel engines, pumps, shafts and bearings. He/she may operate marine diesel engines and other machinery and relieve the engineer on main engine and generator watch in the engineers control booth. The Oiler will assist in making engine room repairs, and will inspect levels in fuel, water, oil and slop oil tanks. May lift, carry, pull or push miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts weighing up to 75 lbs. The opportunity: The First Assistant Engineer assigned to work on a Hydraulic Suction Dredge is responsible for all of the mechanical and electrical equipment, motors and engines onboard the vessel. He/she often works alongside the Chief Engineer on a project when repairs are needed. He/she performs many routine tasks such as hooking up hoses, cleaning up and assisting with fuel transfer operations. He/she will troubleshoot with the Chief Engineer and other crew members when conducting a repair or to determine a malfunction. He/she makes periodic checks and visually inspects equipment such as, but not limited to: engines, motors, pumps, batteries, gauges and valves. He/she will maintain logs, ledgers and work orders regarding the overall performance of the dredge's equipment by monitoring various computer devices, meters, and gauges. May lift, carry, pull or push items weighing up to 75 lbs. when assisting with repairs, the length of the vessel, and below deck.
