Each year, hundreds of students graduate from Great Plains Technology Center into promising medical, technical and other careers. Located in Lawton, Oklahoma, Great Plains Technology Center's vocational training helps lead to careers in practical nursing, surgical technology, carpentry, graphic design and many others. The career training at Great Plains is divided into four distinctive programs with four different objectives. These include a program for students who have left high school and a program for those transitioning into new careers, as well as a standard program for first-time career-seekers. All programs can help lead to positions in flourishing careers as Great Plains is committed to not only offering career training, but also to being the economic backbone of the Southwest Oklahoma economy. Career counseling, which helps students to assess skills, choose careers and set goals is one resource offered to students at Great Plains. There is also the academic center, which assists students with math, reading, test-taking and time management skills. Other support programs include disability services, crisis counseling, employment assistance and financial aid, which is awarded to those who qualify.
