Public Company Incorporated: 1970 as Wilson Greatbatch Ltd.

In 1970, Greatbatch resumed his work on the pacemaker, this time focusing on the batteries the device used.

1975

1975 – Greatbatch’s first metal-ceramic feedthrough implanted.

1978

1978 – Lake Region develops its first finished coronary guidewire.

1979

1979 – Greatbatch establishes Electrochem to meet a commerical need for lithium batteries.

1985

In 1985, he stepped down as chairman, turning over the post to his eldest son, Warren Greatbatch, and founded a company to become involved in genetic engineering, Greatbatch Gen-Aid Ltd.

1987

1987 – Implant of Greatbatch’s first lithium SVO ICD battery.

1990

In 1990, the company's current chairman, president, and chief executive officer, Edward F. Voboril, joined Wilson Great-batch Ltd. as president and CEO. He was the former president and general manager of the biomedical division of PPG Industries.

1991

1991 – Lake Region co-develops the first implantable port.

1997

1999

Greatbatch experienced a difficult 1999, as sales grew by just 2 percent, resulting in a net loss of $2.28 million.

2000 – Wilson Greatbatch Technologies (WGT) issues an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange.

2001

Next, in June 2001, Greatbatch paid $49 million to add Maxwell Technologies' Sierra-KD Components division, maker of ceramic capacitors.

2002

Because of its proven ability to provide reliable batteries, Greatbatch was well positioned to take advantage of this new generation of products. It launched an expansion of its Clarence facilities, including the addition of a $4.5 million, 12,300-square-foot dedicated research and development center, which opened in June 2002.

2002 – Greatbatch acquires Globe Tool and Manufacturing.

2004

2005

2005 – Greatbatch opens two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Alden, NY, and Tijuana, MX.

2014 – Accellent Inc. acquires Lake Region Medical.

2015

2015 – Greatbatch, Inc. acquires Lake Region Medical to create one of the world’s largest medical device outsource manufacturers.

2016

2016 – The combination of Greatbatch® Medical & Lake Region Medical® is renamed Integer®.

2018

2018 – Integer sells its Advanced Surgical & Orthopodic unit to enable growth in its Cardio & Vascular, Cardiac Rhythm, Neuromodulation and Power Solutions product lines.
