Under general supervision, operates sophisticated, multi-modality ultrasound equipment to obtain quality ultrasonic images. Positions patient and adjusts ultrasound equipment to the correct setting for each examination. Performs and records ultrasound diagnostic tests of all parts of the anatomy. Insures the ultrasound exam is of acceptable diagnostic quality and records preliminary findings to assist in physician's interpretations.
Education:
Successful completion of a Cardiac Sonography Program at an approved school of diagnostic imaging or a minimum of two (2) years of supervised on-the-job training.
Licensures/Certifications:
Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).
Experience:
One year of social work experience in a health care setting.
Skills:
* Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and families who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and fellow employees.
* Analytical skills necessary to determine the best method of providing requested echocardiograms based on the specifics of the individual case. Ability to detect pathology based on the knowledge of physiologic causes and effects of diseases.
* Verbal communication skills necessary in order to exchange information on a professional basis with fellow professional, non-professional and ancillary personnel.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Sets up, adjusts, manipulates and controls the use of all conventional and portable ultrasound, data processing, and ancillary equipment required for diagnostic echocardiography procedures. Performs adult echocardiograms and either pediatric and or Fetal echocardiograms including routine measurements and calculations on all patient types.
* Assists physicians during sterile invasive procedures such as pericardialcentesis
* Consults with referring physicians regarding medical history of the patient, discusses appropriate procedures required, maintains records and/or technical notations on each case as required by regulatory agencies, and insures files and records are properly completed with correct information.
* Consults with reading cardiologist regarding Echo findings
* Insures immediate and accurate verification of charge code information into the Radiology Information System, and determines the diagnostic efficacy and completeness of each examination.
* Performs a variety of related clerical tasks, such as retrieving ultrasonic film records, filing films, answering phones, relaying messages, registering and scheduling patients.
* Assists in scheduling the flow of ultrasound examinations to insure optimal utilization of equipment and personnel.
* Demonstrates and assists in instruction of ultrasound technology and hospital procedures to other technical, non-professional and ancillary personnel and directly supervises the job activity of radiologic technology students .
* Maintains active credentialing for Adult Echocardiography and either Pediatric or Fetal Echocardiography

Under the general supervision of the Chief imaging Technologist and with the assistance of a physician, the Advanced Practice Sonographer performs a more extensive range of diagnostic ultrasound and intervention procedures, assists in the training and supervising of ultrasound Sonographers, in clinical research studies and orients and educates medical staff in theory and applications of sonographic technology.

Education:
Associate's degree and successful completion of an approved curriculum in diagnostic ultrasound.
Work Experience:
At least five (5) years of clinical experience in diagnostic obstetrical ultrasound. Current and active registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) in obstetrics and fetal echocardiography. Meets criteria for SDMS Advanced Practice Sonographer status

Ability to provide ultrasound guidance for basic and advanced invasive procedures and demonstrate proficiency in three- and four-dimensional imaging, obstetrical Doppler studies and fetal echocardiography.

Ability to perform sonography and measurements required for a diagnostic sonography examination.
Requires interpersonal and communication skills to interact with interpreting physicians, medical staff.
For Fetal Therapy:
Requires interpersonal and communication skills to interact with interpreting physicians, medical staff patients, visitors and other employees.
Must have strong database and project management skills.
Preferred knowledge in the following applications and programs: {Microsoft Access, Office Suite, Crystal Reports,Vision Chips, Viewpoint}.
Must be able to create, maintain, and manage various databases related to obstetrical ultrasound for pregnancy and post-natal outcomes.
Maintain electronic library of teach/training cases for use by sonographers, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Ability to develop and maintain templates for data searches related to obstetrical ultrasound and statistical reports.
Required Licensure, Certification:
Current and active registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) in obstetrics and fetal
echocardiography. Certified in first trimester screening with the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF).
Working Conditions:
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, radiation, and pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
Work may require the use of lab coats, uniforms and/or protective clothing including gowns, gloves, masks and eye gear.
Position requires the ability to assist the patient on and off the examination table and to also assist the patient into proper positioning to obtain diagnostic results.
The position will require moving and lifting of supplies and equipment as needed, as well as the ability to move the ultrasound unit for portable examinations.
Salary Range: Minimum $44.61 per hour - Maximum $73.66 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.

1. Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination. Responds to patient's concerns and questions.

3. Demonstrates the ability to assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians with invasive procedures; including amniocentesis, fetal intrauterine transfusion, amnio-reduction, sonohysterography, and other invasive procedures as indicated.
4. Demonstrates the ability to obtain limited clinical information from the patient to determine the most appropriate procedure(s) to perform.
5. 6. Demonstrates ability to differentiate fetal anatomical abnormalities, maintain the ability to identify subtle changes of color hue. Differentiates vascular abnormalities by identifying sub changes in sound (Doppler)
7. Demonstrates ability to make timely notification to the Perinatologist of all findings and immediate notification of any life threatening or significant findings.
8. Demonstrates a firm knowledge in fetal and maternal physiology and fetal anatomy relevant to obstetrics and continues to be familiar with evidenced-based clinical principles and must be a continuous learner and participate in didactic activities.
9. Demonstrates ability to conduct daily quality control testing as required to ensure consistency in quality. Conducts daily visual checks on equipment. Reports all deviations to the Perinatologist, removes defective equipment from use and assures items are repaired.
10. Demonstrates a familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding with an ability to assign appropriate codes to the ultrasound study.
11. Demonstrates the ability to generate a preliminary ultrasound report with the inclusion of ICD-10 and CPT codes for the Perinatologist to review and finalize.
12. Demonstrates a willingness to be scheduled to perform perinatal ultrasound at a variety of clinical satellite locations under Dimensions Healthcare System and to rotate among the various sites with minimal supervision.

Salary Range: Minimum 58.00/hour - Maximum 58.00/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. Duties include: The Echo Technologist/Echocardiographer will work within the Echo/Cardio Dept.
* Assumes responsibility of echocardiographic testing in the cardiovascular department
* Includes but not limited to all 2D echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs) and stress echo tests.

Under general supervision, operates sophisticated, multi-modality ultrasound equipment to obtain quality ultrasonic images. Positions patient and adjusts ultrasound equipment to the correct setting for each examination. Performs and records ultrasound diagnostic tests of all parts of the anatomy. Ensures the ultrasound exam is of acceptable diagnostic quality and records preliminary findings to assist in physician's interpretations.
Education
Successful completion of a Sonography Program at an approved school of diagnostic imaging or a minimum of two years of supervised on the job training.
Skills
* Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and families who may be under physical and/or emotional stress and fellow employees.
* Analytical skills necessary to determine the best method of providing requested Echocardiograms based on the specifics of the individual case. Ability to detect pathology based on the knowledge of physiologic causes and effects of diseases.

Licensures, Certifications
Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).
Physical Requirements
Ability to position patients for up to 20% of work time and to stand and walk for up to 80% of work time. Ability to push and handle heavy equipment.
Working Conditions
* Normal patient care environment with occasional (less than20% of work time) exposure to patients with possible infectious diseases.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Sets up, adjusts, manipulates and controls the use of all conventional and portable ultrasound, data processing, and ancillary equipment required for diagnostic echocardiography procedures. Performs adult and pediatric echo examinations, and assists with TEE procedures including routine measurements and calculations on all patient types.
* Assists physicians during sterile invasive procedures such as pericardialcentesis
* Consults with referring physicians regarding medical history of the patient, discusses appropriate procedures required, maintains records and/or technical notations on each case as required by regulatory agencies, and insures files and records are properly completed with correct information.Consults with the reading cardiologist regarding echocardiography findings
* Ensures immediate and accurate verification of charge code information into the Radiology Information System, and determines the diagnostic efficacy and completeness of each examination.
* Performs a variety of related clerical tasks, answering phones, relaying messages, entering transport requests, and stocking rooms
* Assists in scheduling the flow of Echocardiography examinations to insure optimal utilization of equipment and personnel.
* Demonstrates and assists in instruction of Echocardiography technology student rotation and hospital procedures to other technical, non-professional and ancillary personnel and directly supervises the job activity.
* Participates in quarterly Quality assurance meetings
* Maintains active credentialing for Adult Echocardiography
