2006

In 2006, Matthew decided he was ready to settle down and find his life partner.

2013

McConaughey won an Oscar in 2013 for his portrayal in Dallas Buyers Club of Ron Woodroof, a cowboy diagnosed with AIDS. The following year, he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his starring role in True Detective.

2014

Founded in 2014, Greenlight has not only gotten parents talking but investors as well.

2015

Crown had its eye on McConaughey as far back as 2015, when the actor went viral with a commencement speech he gave at the University of Houston, structured around his aphorisms (“Don’t leave crumbs”; “Dissect your successes”; “A roof is a man-made thing”).

2018

By 2018, the Greenlight Savings account and donation platform Greenlight Giving were rolled out.

2019

The investment includes a $54 million Series B funding round led by Drive Capital in 2019 and a $215 Series C funding round led by Canapi Ventures and TTV Capital.

2020

The company is now valued at more than $1.2 billion, having raised a total of $297 million including a $215 million Series C funding in September 2020.
