Greenwood House company history timeline

1939

What started as a community nursing home for the aged back in 1939, Greenwood House is now a comprehensive provider of wellness-focused senior lifestyles and health care services that includes skilled nursing care, rehabilitation services, assisted living, homecare services and hospice care.

In 1939, they purchased and renovated a spacious home on Greenwood Avenue and named it the Home for the Aged Sons and Daughters of Israel.

Since our founding as a home for Jewish seniors in Trenton in 1939, our tradition of care, comfort, and support is what defines us as an organization.

1974

Originally located on Greenwood Avenue in Trenton, it moved to its current home at 53 Walter Street in Ewing in 1974.

1980

As the community’s needs continued to grow, a new wing was added in 1980, expanding the Home’s capacity to 122 residents.

2002

In 2002, Greenwood House’s skilled nursing home was renamed to honor the Marcus family and is now called the Robert and Natalie Marcus Home for the Jewish Aged.

2003

The largest of these was a sold-out benefit event held at the Trenton War Memorial, featuring former President Clinton in 2003.
