Griffith Foods company history timeline

1919

He went to work at what was then Griffith Laboratories, the company founded in 1919 by his grandfather and his father.

1929

On May 14, 1929, Griffith’s first company outside of the United States was established in Toronto under the leadership of E.L. Griffith’s nephews, Maurice and Luther Rector.

1942

In 1942 Sair was fired, and Gunther took over what?? The research on whip toppings?? Soy Whip continued to be a vaible commercial product, sold to good candy accounts.

1943

In 1943?? Sair went to work for Griffith Laboratories, where he worked in many areas.

1949

Then 2-3 years later (actually 1949) Dale McMillan, the old man, decided that there was no future in vegetable proteins at Central Soya so he shut down the whole operation and sold the rights to the whipping compound to Ken Gunther, who then operated it for many years until Staley bought it.

Did he start the program?? Main products?? Why leave?? Why did Central abandon the program in 1949.

1950

In 1950 Sair and Rathman (both from Central Soya) were issued a patent on an improved process for making a soy-based whipping agent.

1959

In 1959?? Griffith Laboratories introduced America's first commercial food-grade soy protein concentrate.

1965

In about 1965?? they began to hydrolyze soy.

1970

Maslick joined Griffith Foods in 1970 and was quickly promoted to management positions in the USA and then in Corporate finance.

1988

In 1988, he was elected Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

1990

In 1990 he was elected Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Griffith Foods until his retirement.

1991

Griffith acquired Custom Culinary® in 1991 to expand its soup, base, sauce, and gravy offerings.

1997

Dave joined the organization in 1997 and has held various roles in the commercial organization, including Vice President of Sales before managing research and development activities.

In 1997, Don helped found a cooperative farm village in Hartland, Vermont.

1998

Jose-Luis grew up in Spain, relocated to the United States in 1998, and currently lives in Chicago with his wife and two daughters.

2002

Lo was co-founder and CEO of eZoka Group, a UK-based internet startup that was sold in 2002.

2007

Greg Metschke is Vice President, Global Purchasing for Griffith Foods Worldwide Inc. , originally joining the Griffith Foods team in 2007.

2008

Matt previously led Sustainable Business Solutions at PwC. He founded Sustainable Finance Ltd, acquired by PwC in 2008.

2012

Prior to joining Griffith Foods in 2012, Bob served as the Managing Director of IT Informatics at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

2014

Prior to joining Griffith Foods in 2014, Jim was President and CEO of Marsan Foods based in Toronto Canada.

2015

In 2015, Brian began leading Griffith Foods as Executive Chairman.

Jose-Luis Bretones founded LINAR Advisors in 2015, a boutique consulting practice with a focus on global supply chain operations, and currently serves as managing partner after more than 20 years working across several industries around the world.

2016

Dean Griffith, the longtime chairman of Griffith Laboratories, later known as Griffith Foods, died of natural causes March 8, 2016.

TC Chatterjee was named Chief Executive Officer in 2016.

2017

Wim van Roekel joined Griffith Foods in 2017 after spending 21 years with global food ingredients companies across the globe.

Prior to 2017, Simon was senior VP of development at TechnoServe, an international nonprofit advancing business solutions to poverty.

2018

Ben joined the Griffith Foods family in 2018 as President, Custom Culinary, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffith Foods.

2019

In 2019, the company launches TEROVA™, a supplier of sustainably sourced and superior spices, herbs, botanicals, and innovative ingredients, in order to scale sustainable sourcing efforts.
