TITLE: Packer Dumper
LOCATION: Oswego, IL
SHIFT & HOURS: Monday- Friday 4am - 2:30pm
Hiring Hourly Rate: $20.65/Hr.
Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring a Packer Dumper to be responsible for the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment. The equipment includes hoppers, filler machines, bulk packaging machines, jar packaging machines, check weighers, metal detectors, conveyors, case packers, labelers, and tooling. The associate ensures that quality products are packaged in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner. The primary function is to dispense the product into the mezzanine hopper but will work in other positions on the packaging line as needed.
As a Packer Dumper your responsibilities will include:
Dispenses product into the mezzanine hopper
Reads packaging schedule or follows verbal instructions to ascertain product to be dispensed into the hopper
Unloads and loads drums of product to and from pallets
Opens drums of product and unloads/ loads drums of product onto electric dumper or electric hoist
Reads product number and lot number of each unit of product and communicates to the line operator the product and lot number of each unit
Clean and attach identifying tags or labels to each drum with designated label
Wash and assemble mezzanine and lower level hopper, parts, and clean entire work area
Reads packaging schedule or follows verbal instructions to label the packaging material
Review and inspects labels to verify placement, clarity of printing, and information accuracy
May affix labels to corrugated materials, jars, bottle or bag
Operate glue machine, glue gun, label applicator, shrink wrap, pallet lift, manual- and electric-pallet jack
Observes packaged precuts for uneven or torn edges to determine which labels are usable
Manually fill cases when needed
Compares items packed with the schedule and other identifying data and records the number of materials labeled and completes line check forms
Stacks cases onto pallets in designated format and operates automated case packer and printer
Transports pallets of product to the designated staging area
Maintains a clean and orderly work area
Complete all training defined and made available. Responsible for attending all training made available assuring full understanding of the training and have the ability to perform trained activities.
Responsible for the review of specific functional area BRC criteria. Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as . Provide employee training as needed. Ensure Food products meet safety, quality and legal requirements
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or asked by Line Operator to assist

Job Description and Responsibilities: The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance & emergency repairs to all production machinery, striving to improve equipment reliability & glove quality, as part of the maintenance team. Essential Job Functions:
* Work on vertical baggers, ( Hayssen & Matrix ), Tanney & Langdon cartoners, ink jet printers, and packaging equipment.
* Knowledge of bulk flour systems. ( Transfer blowers, air-locks, divertor valves, sifters, etc ) .
* Knowledge of industrial ovens, proofers, conveyors, dryers, etc.
* Fill out daily log reports, emergency breakdown reports, work orders, and communicate with incoming shifts.
* Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
* Ability to work on low voltage and 120-480vac equipment, starters, motors, vfd's, sensors, controllers, photo-eyes, etc.
* Install, debug and stabilize plant equipment as required.
* Read schematics and blueprints in order to interpret, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical issues to properly and safely repair.
* Perform repairs and upgrades of the machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation.
* Support installations, analysis and acceptance of new electro mechanical equipment.
* Repair and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies metal detectors, and scales.
* Test the performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test instruments
* Fabricate guards using measuring devices, cutting tools and welders. ( stick & tig )
* Read and interpret HMI panels to troubleshoot production line faults.
* Install electronic parts and hardware, using soldering equipment and hand tools
* Operate, test, and maintain robotic equipment
* Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed.
* Communicate issues and problem solve with Production staff any quality and safety concerns.
* Perform electrical and distribution lock out/ tag out method steady with customary safety protocol
* Facilitate to ensure all electro and mechanical safety requirements.
* Participate in overtime assignments as required.
* Provide "on call" coverage as needed.
* Perform other duties assigned.
Job Requirements:
* Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology field and or equivalent Education, Experience and Training.
* 1-5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
* Through knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices Knowledge; OSHA, safety, etc.
* Proven ability to work in a team environment
* Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA and Production needs.
Salary Range:
* $28.93/hr - $36.16/hr

Break seal and take sample to lab for product verification.
Hook the truck up properly to unload product.

Follows safety & sanitation rules.
Keeps area and sifter house clean.
Help clean the silos as needed.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
6+ months experience in a food production/ food manufacturing environment.
Job requires constant standing, lifting, and moving product a majority of the day.
Employee must be able to move and hook up hoses.
Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
Minimal computer and math skills required.
Must not have an aversion to heights.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to consistently lift up to 80 lbs.
Willing to work 12 hours shift and weekends.

Works with equipment vendors to obtain and evaluate competitive proposals for equipment required on projects. Prepares purchase requisitions and approves project-related invoices for payment. Schedules equipment deliveries, services, or trades.
Ensures compliance of equipment, construction, and safety standards with governing agencies such as FDA, , BRC, OSHA, EPA, etc.
Works cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, R&D, IT, Quality, Sanitation, Health & Safety, Legal, and other departments as required.
Oversees contractors, building construction, and field installation of processing systems - including ensuring equipment and workmanship meet or exceed project requirements, preparing reports on fieldwork, initiating any required change orders, through to start-up, and commissioning.
Complete Factory Acceptance Tests or Pre-Delivery Inspections at supplier's site as required. Oversee and coordinate equipment start-up, commissioning, and training.
Oversee development of supporting set-up, run, and change-over documentation for equipment, including Process Specifications, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions. May use appropriate input from the machine operators, supervisors, and other technical personnel.
Protects company assets, confidential information, and intellectual property.
Performs other duties or special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
BS or BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or equivalent experience Required to travel - up to 50% with both domestic and international travel (pending project needs)
5-10+ years of project management /project engineering experience.
