Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction

Job Requirements
“Bilingual English/Spanish speaking only” Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocation Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.
Attributes:
-Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each.
-The position does require bending and twisting of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day.
-Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
-Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects.
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion. Occasionally walks, bends and twists at waist.

**Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:**
+ Identifies, develops, and maintains collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders through knowledge exchange on cutting-edge scientific trends, ideas, and practices in patient care as well as understanding the dynamics and unmet needs within the therapeutic areas
+ Serves as an information scientist and colleague to top level academic physicians and researchers, select academic centers, centers of excellence, patient advocacy groups, and key accounts, including managed care, by providing complex medical and scientific information to meet their needs
+ Serves as a conduit for research for investigators interested in developing investigator-initiated research protocols
+ Strengthens alliances with cross-functional colleagues by support at medical conventions, advisory boards, clinical data presentations, scientific intelligence, promotional speaker training, company trial site
+ Conducts formal presentations upon request to appropriate groups such as: key accounts, managed care organizations, integrated systems, national medical associations and medical schools. Plasma Processing Technician

The Opportunity
Responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping and storage of plasma collected from donors.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), responsible for collecting plasma samples and moving plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, which could include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
Ensures accuracy of unit labeling by verifying the pre-printed label matches the dynamic label.
Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer to assure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples per SOPs.
May ensure samples and units are packed and shipped in accordance with SOPs and center procedures. Prepares shipping and unit disposal documentation.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and immediately informs appropriate personnel if equipment is not functioning properly. Records variances.
Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
Responsible for assisting the Training Supervisor in the general administration of the center area training program. Is able to perform all technical tasks required within the work areas and will work in these areas as a Lead Technician when not acting as the Training Lead. Prepare units for frozen storage.
Collect and store samples from plasma units for testing.
Perform routine maintenance on the freezer including monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures and removing ice buildup.
Prepare frozen plasma units and samples for shipping following established protocol.
Manage supplies, assist management team with inventory control procedures, break down empty car- tons and assist with proper disposal
Maintain certification and perform all required duties of Lead Technician (including, but not limited to): (20%)
Monitors the production areas and donor flow to ensure employees meet goals and comply with company quality standards and procedures.
Perform change of lot number for soft goods.
Perform quarterly and annual tube sealer cleaning
Prepare a non-conforming event log entry, counsel employees on Level 1 non-conforming events, and enter appropriate information into database.
Coordinates and performs new employee orientation, including company background, health and safety requirements, policies and procedures and other company expectations. (10%)

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

**The Opportunity** Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. You will report to the Assistant Center Manager. **The Role**
+ In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor's hematocrit and total protein levels.
+ Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. This includes explaining the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. + **Continuous Learning & Development:** The expedited training program lasts approximately six months. Upon completion, you'll have 12 months to obtain a Plasma Center Manager position. Drive your own learning plan that covers all aspects of managing our high-volume blood plasma collection facilities.
