What to Expect

CSs spend approximately 60% of their time assigned to fleet units and 40% to shore stations over a 20-year career. Their work environments include shipboard galleys, mess decks, and

Training & Advancement
After completing Recruit Training, CSs attend a seven-week A school in Fort Lee, VA, where they learn food preparation, nutrition, and dining service. Placement and advancement opportunities are excellent for qualified applicants. Advanced technical and operational training is available later in their careers.
Education Opportunities
CSs can earn college credits through the American Council on Education for courses taken in this rating. Additionally, the United States Naval Community College (USNCC) offers degree
programs, including a Naval Studies Certificate, that contribute toward an associate degree. These programs support professional development and educational advancement. CSs may also take advantage of voluntary education programs such as the Navy College Program, Tuition Assistance, and the Post-9/11 GI Bill to further their education while serving.

This position supports the kitchen team by ensuring prep items are prepared on time and completely, assisting with dishes and cleaning as required, ensuring product quality and freshness, and upholding Chick-fil-A's commitment to excellence in food safety and service.

Responsibilities:
We are looking for applicants who exhibit the following qualities:
* Prepare food to exact procedural standards
* Food Preparation: Wash, chop, and prepare produce, proteins, and other ingredients according to Chick-fil-A standards and recipes.
* Station Setup: Ensure all prep stations are fully stocked and ready for service periods.
* Inventory and Rotation: Label, date, and store food properly following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
* Cleanliness & Sanitation: Keep prep areas, coolers, and storage organized and clean. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
* Maintain the highest standards of food safety
* Assist with dishwashing for prep dishes and those from other parts of the kitchen
* Assist with other tasks as requested by leaders
