Knock on the parts to be able to balance the parts
Shining, Sanding, Grinding the parts
Packaging the parts
Loading the parts into the pallets and trucks
Lots of working with their hands
Never lift more than 50lbs (they need to use lifts for anything heavier than that)
There are baskets that they can use to move parts around vs. lifting by hand
Training on 1st shift 7am - 5pm (10 hour day)

SMT grinder job description
We are currently looking for an individual to join our team as a Grinder on 1st shift. Our first shift hours are 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday - Friday. Overtime is available and may involve additional hours outside of the normal shift hours as well as some Saturdays.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities - Grinder
In this Grinding position you'll be using handheld grinding or vibrating equipment to remove slag and splatter from welds to customer specifications on welded piece parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of a Grinder
Follow and comply with all company policies and procedures. Using information form blueprints, travelers, and work instructions determines customer requirements regarding finish. Uses various grinding and vibrating equipment to deburr, removes excess welds and slag, remove surface defects and smooth surfaces of product. Fills out all required production paperwork and records. Maintains work area in clean and safe condition. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED or equivalent. No previous experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to read basic blueprints and perform basic mathematical calculations. Knowledge of metal removal equipment such as grinder, orbital sander, files and chisels. Ability to follow instructions and use basic quality inspection equipment including calipers and micrometers. Position requires employee to complete OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Questionnaire Form and evaluated for pulmonary fitness. Both proper training for respirator use and respirator fit tested must be completed prior to first day of employment.
Working Conditions
Constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes or dirt, which may not be desirable. In some areas, exposure to hazards may require the use of personal protective equipment including dust masks and earplugs.

Decision-Making / Confidentiality
Requires some periods of normal and some periods of constant mental / visual application. Little or no independent judgment and decision making within Company policies to resolve operational problems and to determine manufacturing processes and procedures. JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job):
Safely and effectively setup and operate Cylindrical Grinders, manufacturing precision hardware from blueprints.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to, the following:
• Complete all setups and efficiently run moderate to very complex parts on manual and CNC Cylindrical Grinders following detailed setup instructions.
• Must consistently demonstrate the ability to meet critical engineering specifications as shown on engineering prints.
• Must be capable of interpreting complex engineering drawings.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify processes improvements and incorporate necessary changes.
• Must be capable of developing well documented setup sheets, and other associated documentation necessary for efficient manufacturing of parts.
• Communicate with Manufacturing Management Staff and Machinists for shift change over and process requirements.
• Perform routine PM on machines (I.E. grease, oil, coolant, filters).
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience:

• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience setting up and operating manual and CNC Cylindrical Grinders, grinding various types of materials.
• Strong math skills.
• Display strong communication skills and be capable of working from verbal and/or written instructions with minimum supervision.
• The individual must perform his/her duties in conjunction with EHS personnel, in such a manner that neither he nor others are jeopardized in regards to safety.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
• Individual must be capable of occasionally lifting 50lbs and standing for extended periods of time and capable of climbing stairs.
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, hand and foot protection or other specific PPE as required.
