A groundsman is a maintenance worker taking care of various public facilities such as schools, parks, campuses, and so on. The job of groundsmen is essentially landscaping and maintaining a functional and clean space where no windows are broken and all the lightbulbs work.

A high school diploma will be enough to get you hired as a groundsman. Having a driver's license and some experience on the job is a plus, but usually not mandatory requirements. You will have to operate housekeeping equipment, though, like tractors, forklifts, and lawnmowers. Using hoisting machinery might also be in the mix on occasion.
