Position Description
Direct or Perform work associated with environmental permitting which may include stream cross sections, long profiles, BEHI/NBS, and/or other environmental sampling (chemical and biological).
Direct or Perform Stream Assessment (perennial/intermittent/ephemeral), Stream Reach Condition Studies.
Direct or perform work associated with 401/404 Permitting Documents and Agency Coordination
Familiar with local, state and federal water quality laws (CWA, RHA Section 10, ESA, NHPA, NEPA, etc.)
Exposure to or use of Rosgen Natural Channel Design (Levels I, II, III or IV) and other principals of Natural Channel Design.
Perform HEC/HEC RAS modeling and prepare and submit FEMA CLOMARs/LOMARs, a plus
Develop plans and full plan sets for NCD projects for IRT, State, and local level approvals
Familiarity with local permitting process for development projects
Communicates with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues.
Ensures adherence to client and corporate contract specifications in all activities including Health, Safety, Security, and Environment.
Skills & Requirements
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Science, Fluvial Geomorphology, Environmental Studies, or related field is required. Masters of Science a plus.
AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or Arc Map/Arc Pro experience for preparing plans and plan sets
4-8+ years of related experience. Experience must include hands on field and office project/task execution (preferably in a responsible position commensurate with employment level) based in environmental consulting field.
EIT or PE preferred
Must possess excellent communication and technical writing skills and be able to independently prepare a complete deliverable report with a focus on QA/QC. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite software.
Experience using GPS equipment and developing data dictionaries for specific GPS data collection efforts to feed into GIS data display and map production.
Willingness to learn new skills and accept challenging task assignments.

About the Role
This is a skilled position requiring the individual to manage and help lead the company in being proactive in environmental compliance reporting directly to the Environmental Director. Responsibilities
Assist the Environmental Director with implementing all company environmental policies and initiatives
Assist in obtaining all local, state and federal environmental operating permits required for aggregate and/or asphalt production facilities
Ensure company environmental compliance at all production facilities through education and training of company personnel
Perform compliance reviews and inspections of company facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits, rules and regulations
Ensure records and appropriate documentation is being maintained at each aggregate facility to ensure compliance with operating permit conditions
Administer facility programs for solid waste, wastewater, stormwater and air emissions
Coordinate and complete periodic regulatory reporting for air emissions and stormwater and process wastewater discharges
Coordinate and complete required annual reporting for facilities under EPCRA Section 312 (Tier II)
Research and apply existing and proposed local, state and federal regulations to keep management aware of how regulations will impact the company
Coordinate any emergency spill response actions if necessary to minimize impacts to the environment and complete remediation efforts
Miscellaneous duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science or a related field
Five years of environmental compliance responsibility is preferred
Knowledge and understanding of MSHA regulations that govern aggregate facilities is preferred
Maintaining a current Visible Emissions Evaluation Certification is required within 6 months of hire
Required Skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the company
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist supervisors with other duties as required
Must be able to work independently without close supervision

The Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Northern Region has an exciting opportunity for an independent and highly motivated Environmental Scientist to work within the Coastal Fisheries Program. Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), this position performs field research, data collection, data entry, data quality assurance and control, analysis, and report writing for fisheries investigations in the Trinity River basin and Department hatcheries. The position is part of the Departments Trinity River Project and involves coordination with other members of the Project and other agency or Tribal partners. This position offers the opportunity to work in remote wilderness areas of the Trinity River Basin. This position will actively participate in monitoring some of California's most iconic salmon species including spring and fall Chinook, Coho Salmon and summer steelhead. Incumbent will actively participate in sourcing natural area coho salmon broodstock for Trinity River Hatchery. Incumbent will represent the Department in dealings with local, State and Federal governmental agencies, Tribal partners, conservation groups and private landowners. Area of geographic responsibility includes all nine Northern California counties that make up the Northern Region, however duties will be largely focused in Trinity County. Contacts made in the course of this work are highly sensitive and involve a wide degree of interests. The level of consequence of error in applying the best available scientific knowledge, technical information, and policy may have highly significant and adverse consequences for private landowners, various governments, the public, the Department, Tribal partners, and trust resources, among others.

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer and standard word processing software. This is a field-oriented position that will be working in temperature extremes (25 -105 F), working in and around flowing water using wet/dry suits in rugged and remote areas. Use of 4-wheel drive and all-terrain vehicles, rafts, fisheries sampling equipment such as backpack electrofishers, seine nets, traps, etc. is required. The ability to lift 50 lbs. and swim 100 yds. unassisted is required. 50% of time will be spent indoors attending meetings, processing emails, phone calls, and documents; spend the other approximately 50% of time outdoors in rugged terrain, hot and freezing conditions, experiencing biting insects, and some overnight camping. Attend meetings and hearings, work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Some travel is required. Work overtime as necessary. Required to wear a uniform as directed and in accordance with Department guidelines. Use of a state-owned vehicle for travel is required between remote facilities and field sites where public transportation is not readily available.

The incumbent may work with contractors, as well as plan, develop, and implement innovative programs to ensure compliance with CEQA and to address emerging environmental problems and natural resource management issues in support of achieving CalGEM's mission to protect public health and safety, environmental quality, and the reduction and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the development of hydrocarbon and geothermal resources in a manner that meets the energy needs of the State.

Working Conditions
The duties of this position are conducted in-doors and out-doors at egg layer farms, egg production, and distribution facilities, retail facilities, CDFA locations and other locations as needed. The ES travels in-state and out-of-state often and to those establishments throughout an assigned geographical area to conduct investigations and inspections, and to conduct reviews on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture and Food and Drug Administration. Egg production and distribution facilities usually have wet, slippery floors, are noisy, and have many potential hazards such as moving equipment, heavy overhead structures, and sharp knives. The Meat, Poultry and Egg Safety (MPES) Branch consists of two core functional areas: Meat, Poultry and Rendering and Egg Safety. MPES licenses, registers, and inspects meat processing establishments and meat and poultry slaughterhouses exempt from federal inspection, providing oversight to ensure that only wholesome, unadulterated, and properly labeled meat and poultry products are provided to the public and owners of the livestock and poultry. Environmental Scientist - COASTAL RESILIENCE program manager / Ocean Protection Council / California Natural Resources Agency The reporting location for this position is Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
The California Ocean Protection Council (OPC) is hiring an Environmental Scientist to advance strategic priorities related to sea level rise, marine debris, offshore wind, and other stressors to coastal resilience. The Environmental Scientist will work in OPC's Climate Change Program and will have a specific focus of advancing local and regional sea level rise planning and adaptation across the state through the OPC Senate Bill 1 Sea Level Rise Adaptation Grant Program. Additional areas of focus include marine debris, offshore wind, and other coastal resilience stressors as needs emerge.
The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for collaborating with other OPC staff, state and federal regulatory agencies, California Native American tribes, academic scientists, non-profits, community representatives, and others, on topics pertaining to sea level rise planning and adaptation, marine debris, offshore wind, and other coastal resilience stressors. The Environmental Scientist will also be responsible for grant and contract management including developing scopes of work and budgets, tracking deliverables, and coordinating with grantees. Overall, this role will be responsible for supporting implementation of OPC's mission and California Natural Resources Agency's (CNRA) policy initiatives, which include embedding equity and environmental justice into programs and actions to support statewide efforts related to coastal resilience.

This position requires reporting in person at Natural Resources Agency headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento for a minimum of two times a week. OPC staff are currently required at headquarters a minimum of two days a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Flexible Work Schedule:
This position is considered Remote Centered which means the incumbent would telework 50% or more of the time within a work month from an alternate work location. The incumbent can telework with a management approved telework agreement and schedule. Duties:
Conduct water, sediment, physical habitat, and biological organism monitoring, analysis, and reporting for various surface water throughout the San Diego Region using sound scientific methods in accordance with State of California Standard Operating Procedures. Work will require, in accordance with health and safety practices and regulations, hiking long distances over uneven terrain in inclement weather, wading in shallow waters, assisting with boat operations, working in areas with hazardous organisms, and driving on rough roads for extended distances. The position will include field work and office work supporting field projects involving investigations and remediation of hazardous waste sites. The position also includes participation as an on-call emergency responder, serving approximately 1 week per month for 24/7 emergency response to chemical and oil spills. This position is an integral member of the project team, interfacing with internal and external clients, preparing project deliverables, and clearly communicating with other project team members.

Qualifications:

Experience with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations and application to various stages of an environmental investigation project.
Experience working on multi-office and/or multi-consultant teams preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Excel).
Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to be trained.
Familiarity with operation of sediment sampling equipment, such as vibracore and/or grab samplers.
Trailer and operate a variety of vessels including small jon boats, skiffs, and pontoon boats as necessary to collect field data.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Salary Range: $ 73,563 - $ 81,839
Annual Bonus

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) , an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks an Environmental Field Technician in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
Performs groundwater-sampling duties.
Handles operations and maintenance duties for environmental remediation systems.
Records field notes for each specific task performed.
Maintains equipment calibration logs.
Performs general labor and construction activities.
Handles other related duties assigned by the Field Services Manager.
Follows GES engineering, construction, and O&M policies and procedures.
Adheres to GES Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities.
Skills & Requirements:
This position requires outdoor work, in all weather conditions, on a military base.
A High School diploma or equivalent.
1-3+ years of related work experience. Previous experience performing fieldwork in the environmental consulting industry is highly desired.
Electrical experience (installations, maintenance and/or repairs) is a plus, but not required to be considered.
Previous military experience and/or experience working on the Cherry Point Military base is a plus.
Electrical experience, mechanical skills, and/or a CDL license is a plus.
