As the Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls **Group Leader** on our Industrial Facility Engineering and Design Team, you will provide leadership and guidance to a talented group of professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions. This position will be located at the Subtropolis in Kansas City, KS and will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
Responsible for managing all front-end operations of a federal digitalization effort involving physical mail intake and document scanning. This includes coordinating activities across multiple subcontractor-managed and co-managed intake sites, overseeing logistics, document handling, scanning quality, and remittance processing. The Intake Lead ensures site standard operating procedures are followed, SLAs are met, and intake operations integrate seamlessly with downstream processing workflows.
Oversee the full lifecycle of physical document intake operations at all contractor and partner-operated sites.
Create, conform, and update (as required) standard operating procedures.
Coordinate secure receipt, barcoding, and logging of millions of incoming submissions per year.
Standardize and supervise the opening, sorting, categorization, and preparation of documents for scanning.
Manage high-volume scanning operations, including envelope and content imaging, with quality control checks for legibility and completeness.
Identify, record, and route all discovered payments and remittances (checks, money orders, etc.) in accordance with client protocol:
Handle exception documents, such as imperfect or misrouted submissions, with 2-day routing and tracking.
Oversee site compliance with client requirements, NARA retention, and PII/FTI protection standards.
Oversee and manage efforts of site technical lead and facility manager. Ensure all efforts are in compliance with NIST security regulations and requirements.
Coordinate with logistics vendors for physical shipment reconciliation, secure returns, and inter-site document transfers.
Establish and monitor KPIs across sites (e.g., intake cycle time, scan success rate, remittance handling compliance).
Serve as primary liaison with subcontractor leads for intake workflow alignment, issue resolution, and reporting.
Qualifications

Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all environmental, health & safety regulations.
Lead by example, following all critical safety behavior rules while encouraging other employees to work safely.
Check cup counts per box to make sure there are the correct amounts of parts per box.
Check the quality of the parts, cycle time, clean accessory equipment, and make sure all thermoform lines are kept clean.
Help with mold change shut downs and start up. Process sheets / set up sheets.
Check quality and color of parts twice per shift as time allows.
Check parts for size (ie. especially on specific customers) and make adjustments as needed.
Check to make sure line techs have completed all necessary paperwork 2 hours into the shift.
Complete efficiency reports and oversee the checking of production by box count sheet an the end of each shift.
Verify the accuracy of travelers for each line and verify line clearances are signed off.
Oversee the duties of the techs, OA's, and operators on all shifts.
Fill in trending charts for specific parameters for special run projects. (Refer to Parameter Chart in Appendix).
Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and Department of Health requirements.
Do Kronos for their shift, verify accurate time keeping with Group Leader.
Participate in accident investigations when needed.
Perform any other duties established by the Group Leader.
Qualifications
High School diploma/GED equivalent .Or previous experience.
Previous extrusion and/or thermoforming experience
Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.
Good Attendance.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently and/or up to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally.
Ability to push/pull loads in excess of 75 pounds occasionally.
Able to stand/walk for 7 hours of an 8-hour shift. Be able to work extended shifts if needed.
Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warning alarms and horns on forklifts.
